@Nergy The point I'm making is that they're hurting their own cause. It would cost them $5 max to mail it out, too.
What I'm saying is that it's kind of stupid to have nothing in between the $20 and $59 range. The max I'd pay for this is $20 and even then it's rather unlikely. It's just the wrong game to try this with.
I didn't mean they were slighting Vita owners, they're just not encouraging them to get in on the action. They're striving for the download version being available on Day 1 regardless.
Basically, why aren't they offering the digital only version for contributions of $29 or $39? Common sense says that would be the most popular option. Even though I would still consider it to be overpriced because of all the JRPG games I'd like to see localized, this game is nowhere near the bottom of my list. I simply have no desire to support it or care about it.
I LOVE JRPGs, but I didn't care much for the first Class of Heroes, which was average at best. So, it's disheartening to see such silly management of this kickstarter and game of choice to bring over here. Because you absolutely know that if this fails the idiot publishers (that is publishers in general) will be like SEEZ?! Americandumbz don't no like JRPGS ANYMORE!! Which is hardly the case. There's a crap ton of good JRPGs, they should even try to tap into the PS1 market of JRPGs that need good localization. PS1, PS2, PSP, just on those three systems there's so, so many better options.
If funding continues its current pace they will BARELY make it to their quota. Which I hope they do because there are people that definitely want this. I just hope this doesn't start a misguided greedy trend. The hive-mind for gaming nerds can only be pushed so far before it moves on.
Look at their kickstarter page. So to answer your idiotic retort: THIS ONE.... BEFORE it goes to retail.
Most other game kickstarters let you get the digital version at around $15-$40 with better versions, deluxe versions, etc. after that price point. Now, yes I understand that there's licensing fees for it to be on the PSP platform, etc., but at the same time this is a localization.
In this one, for now at least, you don't get any game until $59 is kicked in and even then it's a physical copy. So, Vita owners need not apply for this "BONUS".
Of course it isn't going to RETAIL at $59, and that's the freaking point.
Kickstarter is a form of charity. You don't get any ROI on what you "kick" in. While that's the point, for most products, you actually get the product at a REASONABLE price point for being an early supporter.
They want free money to localize it, and then they want you to pay $59 for a PSP game to actually get the game with your contribution?
Getting the game at a discount helps these Kickstarter projects. I mean, goodwill is nice and all but get real, you're asking for a lot of money, an investment that you don't have to pay back.
Considering that this is for the PSP, a handheld that is on its way out... I'll say that this one will fail. Mainly because they expect you to pay $59 before you get a copy of the game for your contribution. $29 or $39 for the digital version would have been much more reasonable.
Right, because all other PC publishers are just dying right now when they don't include DRM.
The only Ubisoft DRM that wasn't cracked or bypassed, that I'm aware of, was H.A.W.X 2. How are those sales, Ubisoft? Four times as high as all your other pirated games?
These idiots are so full shit it's disgusting.
They've built up so much bad will over the years with PC gamers it's comical that they think it can all turn around by offering "services" that likely won't last more than a year.
Ubisoft, it's going to take YEARS to undo what you freaking idiots did. Years. You could offer DRM free games right now and your sales won't increase magically. You've pissed off a lot of people, in case you can't tell from reading the comments. It's not entirely that we're jaded. We just don't trust you. AT ALL!
Remove all the DRM on your Steam games for existing customers. Continue to offer DRM free games through Amazon and Steam. Offer MODERN support for every game you continue to sell. Port the games over to PC well. No more From Dust, shit.
Then, you know, when we feel we can actually trust you, you might have better sales.
Right now, you're still calling us mindless thieves that need to be baited in order to buy your games. No. You need to make great games and port them correctly while making sure they're DRM free. Then stop acting like we're all criminals and you guys are saints.
I mean, we all know that those kickstarter games are doing so well because of all the bad will from those devs and the guarantee of them being DRM, right? Right?
MonkeyPaw and Gaijinworks Kickstart a Class of Heroes 2 localization
Mar 28th 2012 5:24PM (Joystiq)I also just noticed that they only have 4000, $59 options. Which is 236k, not even half of their goal. It's just silly, really.

SimCity will not support mods at launch
Mar 28th 2012 11:41AM (Joystiq)While I agree, their new Sims platform didn't affect modders too much. It was feared that it would kill that community, but it didn't.
Hopefully that same will remain true with Sim City. Except less "Expansion Packs" than the Sims...
