Joyswag: Win Guitar Hero III on your platform of choice

Feb 11th 2008 3:35PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, I'd have to go with the Wii version, and I agree with plenty above: can't stop the Freebird. Simply awesome stuff there. :)

Heroes: Four Months Later (season premiere)

Ugh...and you'll have to excuse all the mistypes, etc, up above. I was in a rush to get it all out. lol

Heroes: Four Months Later (season premiere)

Sep 26th 2007 10:40AM (AOL TV)
I think that you have to take the episode with a bit of a grain of salt. I personally loved it. It moved a bit fast for my tastes, but I think that HAD to be expected. It was only a ONE HOUR season premier, with so many characters to not only catch UP on to show what they had been doing/where they are now 4 months later, but also to begin to introduce the start of this season's story arcs. You can't treat a TV show like its the second coming. You have to take it for what it is: entertainment. And to me, this show entertains, although I'm already disliking and a bit creeped out be the West character. He keeps popping up too concidentally to my mind. Another thing that is REALLY bugging me, is the symbol...the symbol that keeps reappearing: Takedo's symbol on his crest and sword...the Hatian's necklace/Peter's new necklace...Jessica when she is inhabitting Nikki's body...on the "assasin notes" sent to the two "original" heroes...drawn by Molly on the frightening pictues with the staring eyes... It seems to be everywhere, but mostly assiciated with the more "evile" side of things. I'm very intriguied about where it cam ebrom, and where it could be going. You have to give the new season a little time to settle in though, I think. Last season was great, and I have every expectation that this one will too, because the writers of the Heroes show seem to take one thing as important: the characters, and their development and relationships with each other.

TurboGrafx-CD games coming to Japanese Wii VC

Sep 14th 2007 2:26PM (Joystiq)
I think if not USB HDD support, at least better access/use of the SD card slots, or maybe USB flash drive support from the USB ports? Something to help expand the memory has got to be coming, I think, with an announcement like this.

TurboGrafx-CD games coming to Japanese Wii VC

Sep 14th 2007 2:10PM (Joystiq)
All I know is, if they bring that over here then they will have answered one of my prayers for the VC. Ever since I knew they were releasing TurboGrafx games, I've been hoping they could find a way to do the CD's...and I WANT Y's I & II. I loved that compilation disc on my TGX when I had it back in the day. Crossing my fingers that they find a way to get them over here! Also, there really were quite a few Turbo-CD games that were pretty good. Leaps and bounds over the regular Hu Card games.

Rumor: EA out of E for All [Update]

Aug 29th 2007 2:52PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, I can see Nintendo rubbing their hands together in glee now, seeing that they could be the only real contender here. The question would be then, would they be willing to spend some of our hard earned cash that they've got for a really spectacular showing/space?

LGC07: Nintendo booth tour reminds us we're not the target audience anymore

Aug 29th 2007 1:28PM (Joystiq)
When I read this post, it makes me think of other games that have already BEEN released on the Wii, that I would think would go more into the "hardcore" side of things than casual. Games like: Sonic, Godfather, Scarface, SSX, Madden, Tony Hawk (although that was a divergent game from the main series), etc. These are only off of the top of my head. Then there are the big 3 coming up (counting MP3 in that because it was only just released), with expectations that are apparently being met by anyone that has previewed/played parts or all of them already. Then there are third party titles, like MySims (which..I've never like the Sims..but I'm ashamed to say I want to try this one), Dewy, Zak and Wiki, No More Heroes, RE:UC, Ghost Squad, Bully, Manhunt 2...it doesn't seem to me like the Wii is lacking in third party support. I agree with the above posters: Nintendo is focusing its ADVERTISING MIGHT AND MUSCLE on the casual market, because those are the consumers they have to KEEP interest from. They KNOW, from their many years experience in the gaming world, that the real "hardcore" (I hate that term) gamer gets their information online...word of mouth...magazine articles and reviews, etc...that they don't NEED to focus advertising on them. Those will get out. I also think that what someone else said above is true, and that they are trying to play down their games, to let third parties get a foot into the advertising door...let their games get spotlighted. Nintendo knows that thier own games will sell like hotcakes. They want to let others get a chance to do so as well, I think. There really are quite a few games out for the Wii, but they get glossed over by many. And why, do I think? Because they aren't NINTENDO titles. They are third party titles, so people put them down without giving them their full credit. This will change, but it will take time. Remember, the Wii HASN'T EVEN BEEN OUT A FULL YEAR YET. Its not even ONE FULL YEAR into its life cycle. People tout Bioshock and Mass Effect (with good cause...the look awesome and Bioshock is getting rave reviews from everyone), but give the Wii a chance to get to the SAME point in its lifetime...next year this time...and see where things stand. You can't expect miracles overnight, not even from Nintendo. Although I think its pretty miraculous that they are getting their big 3 all out by this holiday season, as they promised us they would...and they are all looking amazing to boot.

Making the grade: Nintendo's E3 presentation

Jul 12th 2007 1:54PM (Joystiq)
I agree with you on this one. I think that Nintendo really did make some good announcements, but I think they got overwhelmed by the WiiFit intro. I'm interested in it as well, but I think they went a bit overboard on WiiFit during the conference. There was plenty of info sprinkled throughout the whole thing, but they didn't really concentrate on much. It was kind of sporadic. But I DO remember him talking about a new shooter using the zapper, too, coming from the Big N Inside house. With the quality that it looks like is going into MP3, I think it will be a killer app...but who knows how long we'll have to wait for it? Nintendo IS becoming known for delays, even though it means supremely polished games because of it. :)

Although, I do wish I had money for a 360 and a PS3, as well. I'm intriguied by the idea of the Home network on PS3, and the 360 does have some sweet looking games coming down the pipe. :)

Making the grade: Nintendo's E3 presentation

Of course I'm a Nintendo fan. I'm also a Sony fan, a Microsoft fan, a Sega fan, etc. I'm a GAMER. I don't classify myself as "hardcore" or "casual". I'm a person that likes GAMES, no matter what system they are on. I'm also married, in my 30's, with 5 kids. I don't have money to be spending on all kinds of systems. The Wii is the least cost expensive of the 3. They are innovative, and they have great games. And they really do have quite a few games out for the Wii. If you don't like them, that's your business. I do. I was more referring to the fact that for a company that has been pretty negative on online play for generations of hardware, they are finally jumping into it...and I think in a pretty good way, finally. :)
