So either PETA were "inspired" by a genuinely brilliant product enough to make what's ultimately a shameless ripoff meant to promote their political message, /or/ they actually think Meat Boy is trying to promote an omnivorous diet, the same way they thought Lady Gaga's meat-dress was a chic fashion statement.
PETA's anti-meat message aside, this is gross and shameful.
@Baha05 Source on the "well, they COULD make Kinect universally compatible... they just don't want to!", the "This AC adapter could have easily been made into an extension brick; I SINCERELY DOUBT patents from rival companies exist for THIS technology!", or the "well, it SURELY doesn't cost Microsoft THAT much to package accessories that very few will use on a scale of millions!"?
I'm really interested in your engineering/manufacturing knowledge on this subject. We could be through the looking glass on this one, people.
So essentially, what this post is saying is that Microsoft should have included an extension cord/AC adapter that costs them money to make, for the sake of not inconveniencing people who already have full Kinect capabilities in their system without the adapter, just because if you bring the Kinect itself to a friend's place (and they have an out-of-production Xbox) you won't be able to play it with them that day.
I do it because I'm a closeted transgendered male who identifies as female, and videogames of any kind that offer the ability to play as a woman provide a valuable service to someone like me -- it puts me in an environment where it's okay to act the way I really feel.
I've never received any free stuff or grouped with someone I otherwise wouldn't have as a result. I only do it for the escape. :3
The first post on this subject was fine for provoking discussion of the use of unlimited continues in ported arcade games, but your opinions and responses should have been contained within replies to that thread. What you're doing now is shoveling your side of the argument down everyone's throats, as though your opinion is somehow that much better than ours -- like a sleazy tabloid TV show that pares down other people's arguments to their very core and comes to a distinct conclusion without hearing any further debate from the other party.
Furthermore, your original argument reminds me of the Gamespot review of the original Rocky game (obscure, I know) which knocks the final score down to the mid-fives because the reviewer couldn't keep himself from repeatedly using a single jab to beat the game. He was abusing his pedestal then, just like you're doing it now. Stop it.
Arcade games are designed to keep you shoving quarters into the machine, to the point where most of them require a nigh-unattainable level of skill and/or luck to surpass them with a single credit. Having an "insert coin" button should be mandatory for all arcade ports, because we've all already paid our money and don't exactly enjoy starting over from the beginning.
I sort of have to agree with the consensus; Concerned aside, these comics just aren't all that hot. I mean, "Hey, Einstein, I'm on YOUR side!" followed by Einstein himself swooping past and ackowledging his existence? I'm sorry -- I really am -- but I played through Star Fox 64 over and over for weeks of my young life, and seeing this comic makes me think of the million-or-so times I thought about that exact same ironic set of circumstances occuring.
I'd actually like it if more comics were included from outside the gaming community, that momentarily deviate from their usual formulas to include gaming content (like when Perry Bible Fellowship was featured a couple of weeks ago). For instance, American Elf had a great comic about playing Resident Evil before bed, and he'd have gladly put up a linkable version if you asked him; Bob the Angry Flower HAS a fantastic Robotron comic up Right This Very Second.
