Clean Up Your Media Files with Winamp

Mar 18th 2010 1:09PM (Winamp Blog)
It may help to note that all my tracks have been stripped of all tag data except artist and title. I have several Enya CD's (what? It's good for sleeping!) but half the tracks come back as being from the "Paint the Sky with Stars" compilation album instead of from the original albums... even after i went back and manually added the correct album name to every track. And because you only get to use what auto-tag (or the database it hits) decides is the most likely result I have no option to select the actual album info to populate the results.
For what it's worth I've tried other "auto-tag" type utilities and this last bit (where you only get to use what it decides is the result) is a common failing across most of them

Two major issues auto-tag:
1: It seems to heavily favor compilation albums over original albums - sometimes even if you tell it the specific album and track number (which kind of defeats the purpose anyway)
2: You only get one result to pick from. This means you can either accept the result if returned or your stuck looking it up yourself. Surely more than one result is returned for most searches so I don't see why we couldn't have a button that allows us to see the other results

Marvin The Martian coming to a theater near you

It usually depends on what they do. If they mix in some lightly veiled adult oriented humor then animated movies can do fine. It wasn't just the popularity of Bill Murray that carried Space Jam... some of the cartoon humor was aimed at the parents the kids took with them and, as a result, it was enjoyable by most. (I guess having Michael Jordan in it didn't hurt either)

If it's antisepticly kid friendly they're wasting production time and money on a character most children don't even know.

That "Christmas" features a role in the plot pretty much tells you what the movie will be.

Why is there a Dexter panel at Comic-Con?

Shouldn't they rename it "Any sort of non-sitcom media offering that has a cult following"-Con?

"Legend of the Seeker"?

That name is horrible... makes me think cheesy 80's kid friendly fantasy shows

To fanwank your fanwank,

You can't replicate something living (short of the odd transporter accident that randomly clones first officers)

Oh, don't blame the writers Wes... in "another" thread I was dutifully informed that the writers are almost always blameless and it's the producers and directors who are at fault.

yea.. uh huh.

Good to see another installment - I love these. Hope to see more soon.

After four days of talks, WGA rejects studios' offer

I don't know anymore.... at first I was on the side of the writers (they were getting jerked around after all)... but lets think about it.

Okay, our shows aren't getting made anymore. But have you seen a lot of the writing that they've been giving us... it's horrible. And the "remakes" and "movie adaptations" that those bastards use "artistic license" to butcher really just pisses me off to no end.

Maybe it's time for the industry to flush the guild and find fresh talent.

I'd just like to say your TVSquad Daily bits really brighten my day... don't suppose they could be longer?
