Massive damage dealt to PS3, lawsuit demands
Jul 31st 2007 1:37PM (Joystiq)This is pure BS. Cell was a joint-effort between SONY, TOSHIBA, and IBM. SONY asked IBM to make it, and I believe TOSHIBA was just another financial backer (The Cell cost them $500,000,000 USD by the way to develop)
These California-based companies can go fuck themselves. Quit harassing the game industry.
Final Fantasy video retrospective: Part III
Jul 30th 2007 12:25PM (Joystiq)^^ I can't wait until they get to 11. It's the best one IMO and I still love playing it to this day.
Video of Metal Gear Solid 4 demo is predictably awesome
Jul 24th 2007 1:36PM (Joystiq)Do you have any idea how complex the coding is for what you saw in that video? Especially during the air raids?
PS3 is finally going to take off ^ _ ^
I love all 3 consoles dearly, but finally there's something out there to make all the 360 fan boys STFU.
The difference between the two consoles is finally being shown.
Not that 360 is crap or doesn't have anything to look forward to. I for one, can't wait to try Mass Effect and Halo 3.
Engadget & Joystiq interview: Kaz Hirai and Jack Tretton, Presidents, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc., and America
Jul 13th 2007 5:43PM (Joystiq)Take God of War for example. The PS2 has been out for some time, but the first few years of games (with a few amazing exceptions such as FFX and MGS2) were not showing just what PS2 could really do.
It's the games you see later into a console's life cycle, such as God of War 2 and Final Fantasy 12 that really demonstrate what programmers can do with a console.
Not a single PS3 game thus far has used more than 16-22 GB of disc space by the way. Lari is going to be one of the first to use the full 50 GB with it's 1080p uncompressed video and audio. Then you've got future releases like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 that will undoubtably blow our minds, and even then it will still be fairly early into the PS3's life.
Like Kaz said, we're currently on year 8 of PS2, and we've seen some impressive stuff. Given time the PS3 will perform, it's just a matter of time. Like Jack said, they're concerned when you buy one, only if you buy one. PS2 is doing well enough that it doesn't matter.
Besides all that people are forgetting how much of a steal the PS3 really is, given the cost of the technology. They really are selling it for far too little money, but as a gaming console they have to or no one will buy it. Blu Ray technology (and Cell for that matter) are not cheap.
Lastly I want to point out that I'm not a Sony fan boy (in fact I believe fan boys and haters alike should all burn and be banned from gaming) but rather I like all 3 companies. They all offer something unique, and it would suck to see any one of them go under.
In short, Sony will be just fine. Though personally, I think the Wii is in danger of burning out too quickly. It's cheap, easy fun but Nintendo is seriously flooding the market with a lot of gimmicky crap and better have some killer aps on the way (Metroid got delayed another week >
