Looks like a WVGA screen running HVGA graphics assets for some reason.

I keep hearing about new iPhone features that I'm shocked weren't included before. Using the competition full time I tend to just assume that iPhone can do everything Android can do outside of the few well-publicized limitations.

I've never played with the iOS SDK, but I can say for sure that the Android SDK gives you a relatively accurate Pressure variable for Touch events. It's nothing more than a measure of the total area of the current touch point, but since your fingertip flattens out as you press it against glass it's a perfectly legitimate way of measuring pressure. The only problem is that your thumb will always register a harder press than your index finger, but if you're using a capacitive stylus then that's not an issue.

I don't have any experience with SLCD, but I do know that comparing the OLED screen of the Nexus One to the LCD screen of the Droid, the LCD comes across as significantly sharper looking but extremely muted in color. I'm not sure which one I prefer between impressive sharpness and incredible colors, but I can say with certainty that I love my Nexus One's screen.

In direct sunlight, both of them are completely unreadable, so that doesn't make much difference to me.

Why should Zune hardware go away? There are still advantages to having a dedicated music player over a partner-manufactured smartphone, like no contracts or monthly fees to pay. Plus I haven't seen any evidence that WP7 phones will have things like HD video output via a Zune Dock Connector.

I think it makes a lot of sense for Microsoft to let other people manufacture their phones, but to continue making the music player hardware themselves so they have a product with tight hardware and software integration.

Do you take part in any creative projects in your daily life? I'm a programmer and artist, and at any given time I have 20 different ideas flying around in my head that I absolutely have to get written down on paper and organized so that I can make them happen or else I'll forget them or never get around to acting on them. I have absolutely no need for a tablet that plays videos and surfs the internet because I'm too busy to sit on the couch doing that stuff, and I have a smartphone that already takes care of that when I have a spare minute elsewhere.

What I need is a tablet that I can write handwritten notes on and then organize them to look them up later. That's what my lifestyle requires, and the iPad absolutely can't do that for me. Since I'm not a student walking from class to class all day it isn't practical for me to carry around a bunch of notepads for different subjects all the time, so I need a single easy-to-carry solution that can track everything for me and organize it on the fly.

I'd rather have the Courier if it were to ever come out, but since that isn't going to happen this Asus tablet looks about 10 times more useful to me than an iPad.

Barring any major disasters in the review, this thing is mine when it comes out. I'm currently using a Sony Reader Touch Edition to keep track of my notes, but it has an inferior resistive screen, slow e-ink, and software that treats handwritten notes as an afterthought with no organization features whatsoever.

This thing is going to save my life.

I'm interested in seeing the stylus they're promising and how well that works out. If it's something like a Wacom pen then this will pretty easily take the crown as the most promising slate PC so far, but something like a Pogo capacitive stylus might not be precise enough to get around in Windows.

I also need to see if they've done anything interesting with the virtual keyboard, because the one Windows comes with is pretty awful.

You are the legal owner of hardware that is designed to only be compatible with one network, and nobody told you otherwise when you paid for it. Seems perfectly fair to me, even if it is a little stupid.

I love the lightning-fast web browser. This thing could totally run circles around the 486 desktop I had in middle school.
