A new Tony Hawk for the next generation?

Jun 21st 2006 7:05PM (Joystiq)
Downhill Jam looks awful. Graphics are PSX-era, and the gameplay sounds like it'll get old quick. I love the large-scale freedom inherent since THPS4. While I may buy a Wii, THPS will be for the X360 or PS3 (I still haven't bought the 360 so am still deciding). That is, if it's a sufficient leap forward since American Wasteland (which I might pick up as a budget title for my Xbox).

Iwata bemoans current pricing models

Jun 21st 2006 4:02PM (Joystiq)
After paying £37.99 for the mediocre Path of Neo when it came out in November (paying 8 quid on top of credit gained from trading in many AAA games like Panzer Dragoon Orta), I have/will never paid full-price for a game again. I got Jade Empire a few months back for a tenner (it's now even dropped down to £4.99 at Currys digital) and San Andreas for £9.99 (my Xbox keeps "eating" the disc though, it's getting old). That's why I still don't have a 360 as £49.99 is ridiculous. £29.99 as "budget" for Table Tennis? You got and still can get full-feature relatively new current-gen game for that much at retailers that don't try and rip you off. Bah! Humbug!

The black DS Lite, in the flesh

I agree with Chris. After getting smudges and scratches all over my previously nice and shiny Black iPod 30GB, I'm glad it's matte black on the inside at least, where you'll be pressing buttons and whatnot.

A hint at some Wii power

Jun 19th 2006 10:41AM (Joystiq)
Just when will we see final specs? Will they ever be officially released? I guess not, at least not in a "we have an unbeliebvable amount of RAM/Processing Power/Polygon count" way. CoD Wii looks like an Xbox game, while Brothers in Arms 3 looks amazing. I guess this'll turn into another "Gameplay vs. Graphics" debate. Thing is, graphics do contribute. Not so much the technical power, but the overall look. For instance, Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast still looks decent because of the overall style, an area where the Jet Set Radio games excel as well. When you get half-hearted attempts (such as Path of Neo), it really takes away from the immersive experience.

TIME.com bestows gadget honorific on DS Lite

To Mike:

I'm 18 and my dad hates it.

'Nuff said. Well, OK, not 'nuff said, I'm gonna have a mini-rant. I had people telling me the Producers was great, but I didn't cave in and still hold that Blazing Saddles it THE Mel Brooks movie. Young Frankenstein is damn funny too.

"Nobody move or the N***er gets it!"

"Help! Help!"

"Don't do it men! He's not bluffing!"

Best. Mel Brooks Film. Ever. Far better than the overrated Producers.

Get a glimpse of the Halo graphic novel

Pay for the preview? Man, some stores are tough. My local comic book store was giving these out for free. I felt wrong walking out with a comic in hand and paying nothing, then I saw it really is a preview, with barely ANYTHING given away (i.e. just the first one ore two pages).

Joystiq's DS Lite buyer's guide [update 1]

Jun 13th 2006 7:14AM (Joystiq)
Is there any reason to own the DS Phat over the Lite? I mean, looking at the vids and pix, it looks small (duh), which is obviously good for most things, but seeing as I'll be holding the thing a lot with my beefy mitts which have grown from the days when the Dreamcast controller fit perfectly to when they stretched to wrap around the Duke for the Xbox, which I still use over the Controller S (too small, awkward black and white). I don't have a 360, but playing in stores I found it to be a nice compromise for freaks like me and general normal-hand-sized people.

Take-Two pledges support for Wii

GTA: WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!

Still not likely.

'Tis a shame indeed.

IGN Dreamcast: Week 1

I know it's Cartman, even says so in the article.

But does it not look like a twig in mud on second glance?
