PS3 manufacturing costs down 70 percent? Strange, it doesn't feel that way

Jul 31st 2009 8:05PM (Engadget)
Last time I looked Sony lost a few billion dollars and they need to make it up somewhere. They're not in business to be a charity case so of course they're keeping their prices up -- they need to make money.

Microsoft announces pricing for Windows 7 family pack, upgrading

Jul 31st 2009 5:53PM (Engadget)
I wanted the Windows 7 upgrade because I thought I'd be able to go from XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit since it comes with both versions. HOWEVER, I found out (yes I'm the last to know) that Microsoft doesn't allow that and you're forced to buy a 64-bit version of Vista or XP before using the upgrade. So, I canceled my pre-order and I'll just have to buy the real thing (non-upgrade version) for a lot more money. Darn them!

Movie Gadget Friday: Strange Days

Not sure what they mean by not being able to upload Minidisc recordings to the net. I've been doing it for years. The MZ-RH1 even lets you upload your recordings you made on old players, like the MZ-R55. Stop spreading disinformation.

Sony OLED Walkman on sale now

Jul 1st 2009 12:25AM (Engadget)
I love my Sony products, from the PSP to my two Minidisc players that I use daily. Nothing like being able to record PCM in concerts. My two minidisc players have OLED and it's quite cool. I can't imagine what a color OLED would look like, probably more cool. I'm sure the $100 included headphones, $100 song credit, OLED, and the noise cancellation is a deal with the new MP3 player. That said, I think I might break camp and go for the MS Zune HD if it works as advertised. For the same price I'd get the cool OLED, internet browsing, and HD radio(!).

Of course I need to see the side-by-side comparisons before making my decision. In the meantime, I'll still use my "old" technology minidisc players. At least thieves don't want it. Two break-ins on my car and both time they left the player on top of the broken glass. They probably didn't know what it was.

Well, well, what do you know. I guess no D400 anytime soon then.

iPod shuffle 3G pumping up the jams a little too hard at the gym?

Apr 3rd 2009 7:19PM (Engadget)
Though my Sony minidisc player is old and "obsolete" by today's standards I can attest that my unit never got so upset that it raised its volume at me.

The all black wheels makes the car look ugly. That would be the first thing that would need to be changed.
