Finger painting on the iPad

Jun 30th 2010 8:12AM (TUAW.com)
That's just terrific! I love seeing his process. I totally plan to try and incorporate some of those techniques in the future (my results will not be YouTube worthy though :)).

Just as handy is learning about the gloves. I've been going nuts when drawing with the iPad and finding that I have all sorts of crud in my drawings from errant palm contact. The glove solution is cheap, effective, and might even clean my screen as I draw. :D.

In closing, I now want a 24"x36" iPad to take to figure drawing classes!

Our iTablet Dreams: What TUAW is wishing for

Is OS X so insane to have on a tablet, particularly the lean and mean Snow Leopard? It seemed to me Snow Leopard was all about making Leopard smaller, and able to squeeze more out of the hardware using it.

Wii Warm Up: What's your next big game on the horizon?

Dec 16th 2008 9:00AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have no idea when it's to be released (some sites show early 2009, others show 2010), but I'm most looking forward to Snoopy: WWI Flying Ace... and Sky Crawlers, should it come to the states.

Wii Warm Up: Hey there, sports fans

Jun 30th 2008 10:19AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I think the MLB Power Pros series has great potential, but I'm not buying the new one because it once again remains a PS2 port with wiimote only for exhibition play... I didn't buy a Wii to play games solely with control pads and buttons.

An Epic diss

Apr 21st 2008 11:20AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It does seem as though this guy has a very narrow view of "next-gen." A game isn't just graphics, it's an interactive experience. With the possible exception of a little rumble, nothing has dramatically changed in the way a person interacts with the game since the Super-Nintendo/Sega Genesis era (that's where I put the mark of consoles really getting the standard controller configuration right).

I think the Wii easily has the most advanced control system. It's completely different, extremely advanced, highly scalable, and intuitive (when the game designers put thought into the controls). On this front, I find it absurd a talking head for a FPS-based company would dislike the Wii. The Wii finally has controls that make a FPS make sense on a console...

As for the virus comment: It's true... to a small segment of buyers. I picked up a Wii right when it came out. As a result of my purchase, half a dozen friends/family have bought Wiis. Of those, two of the Wiis don't get played much. The other people are still borrowing games from me all the time (I'm 30something, and so are the people are mid-20's - mid-40's), with only one of them being what we would consider a "gamer."

Podcast Rodeo for Sept. 2: A jury of your ears

Sep 2nd 2007 1:15PM (Joystiq)
A bit off topic, but I've been looking for that picture used just below the topic. Could Justin McElroy, or someone point me to an original copy of it? I can't even remember what the ad was for... Audio cassettes, I believe, but no idea what brand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mitt Romney cleaning up dirty video game water

Jul 18th 2007 10:57PM (Joystiq)
I'm not sure the ad quite deserves the flames it is getting. I'm not willing to give up free speech for anything, but I'm don't believe Romney was calling for that in his ad. He wants less porn and blood in front of kids. That's cool. Come up with a solution that doesn't involve messing with my civil liberties...

As for the gooey irony, I don't see it either. The hotels provide adult entertainment for adults. The irony would exist if Mitt helped provide porn to schools.
