Rumors of PGR 4 being limited by DVD are false

Aug 2nd 2007 12:39AM (Joystiq Xbox)
For all the folks stating that it was just Sony fanboys blowing this all out of proportion, please see the offending post by "Ben" of Bizarre Creations that started this whole debate:

http://www.bizarrecreations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14802&p=#p255611

It is very clear what was stated in that post. And I quote:

"You won't see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn't a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD..."

So there you go. Blame Bizarre Creations if you don't like that quote and leave the fanboyisms out of it.

Xbox loses $1.9 billion, failures at fault

Jul 21st 2007 11:09PM (Joystiq Xbox)
And what "must have" games are on the 360, Who Flang Poo, that would justify re-buying the system multiple times?

Now, keep in mind, I have a 360 Elite, so it's not like I'm unaware of what's out there. So far, I can count the number of must haves for 360 on one hand, which is: Gears of War (going to PC now), and Dead Rising. What is coming out that makes it a must have system? Halo 3? Mass Effect? That's really about it. Blue Dragon is a joke, and we still don't know if Lost Odyssey is going to be any good.

When I go into the store these days, I don't see anything on the shelf for 360 that is worth re-buying the system for when it fails. The greatest games for the system are either already on the PC, or on being made for it. And the ones that are not are not worth re-buying the 360 for.

This isn't a PS3 vs 360 comment. My point is that while 360 does have a lot of games for it, there are very few that are actually worth their $60 price tag and even less are worth re-buying the system for.

Joystiq Impressions: PSN games

Jul 21st 2007 10:44PM (Joystiq)
Castlevania:SoTN for both XBL and PSN. The better version is on PSN, unless you have to get 200 achievement points. The game is better on PSN because it includes all of the FMVs and original music from the PS1 game, as well as better control and more sound effects playing at once.

American PSN Store updates for July 19th

Jul 19th 2007 10:19PM (Joystiq Playstation)
The SoTN download is a 100% copy of the original game, unlike the Xbox Live version (I know, as I have it.)

Given that this is the first PS1 download I've bought, I'm still impressed that it is not only an exact copy, but it is so exact that it reads my old save file. Any word on if the Japanese version is available on the Japanese PSN store?
