Casual gamer offers motion-sensing praise for the PS3
Nov 9th 2006 5:01PM (Joystiq)People need to really stop with the Wii is not innovative/PS3 is not innovative...it's the games. Seriously. First of all, high technological speed is not a requisite. I seriously doubt alone in considering the Zork series and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy some of the most immersive and engaging games out there, and they are text adventures. If you want a non-graphical example, try the original Super Mario Bros. Technical capabilities don't make a game.
And neither does a controller. I thought the older zelda games were impressive, and they didn't need me to move my arms. I was immersed in Halo, and yet there was no physical movement on my part.
You can't just say that one or the other will be decisive in making a game good. They are taking two different approaches. Graphics will not matter if the game is fun, and the involvement in control will not matter either. I think the original Starfox is awesome after playing it for the first time a few months ago, and you know what? Right now it sucks comparatively in both departments (although I guess the controls thing is more arguable, but I prefer an analog stick at this point). Just wait for the games, and see what they do. I doubt Twilight Princess will suck just because it isn't PS3 level graphics, and I doubt Resistance will suck just because you can't aim with the controller.
But I'm talking to fanboys anyway, so I guess no one heard me. Oh well, glad to get it out either way.
School bans tag, other recess games
Oct 18th 2006 3:11PM (Joystiq)Given how "educated" many parents are about games, I think it will be more like, "No Billy, no doing things. Go watch the wall."

Oct 4th 2006 1:14PM (Joystiq)I've seen more than one of his movies, and the problem seems to be this. Now when we all play a game, watch a movie, or anything, for most of us there is this moment where we think, "Man, this could be cool if..." and we imagine our own "improved" version of whatever it is we are doing. However, for us it never becomes reality. For Uwe Boll, this block between the thoughts in his head and the real world doesn't exist. Watching his movies gives me the feeling that a Uwe Boll script consists of him thinking, "This would teh r4wk!!!1" and then trying to translate his random imaginings directly into movie form. But that doesn't work. If the entire world thought like Uwe Boll, I'm sure we would love his movies. But a movie released in theatres is a movie made to be shown to others beside yourself, and Uwe needs to realize this. Or we should just shoot him off into space. I personally don't care either way.
