First Look: New iMacs announced, and they're incredible!

Oct 20th 2009 12:49PM (TUAW.com)
"What's really incredible is a new feature for the iMacs that allows them to act as external monitors or HDTVs. You'll be able to attach DVD players, Blu-Ray players, gaming consoles, or even other computers, and display them on the bright, clear, iMac display."

Huh? Where? I can't find any mention of this in the iMac features.

SpamSieve 2.7 is available

SpamSieve works great. Mail.app's built-in junk filtering is okay, but SpamSieve does a much better job (for me at least).

CandyBar 3 available now

Nov 28th 2007 2:23PM (TUAW.com)
Good lord, $24 for an upgrade to a $29 dollar app? It isn't THAT much of a feature jump from CandyBar 2. All that's really different is the UI (which is nice, but not exactly something that I benefit from) and the addition of Dock themes, which as others pointed out seems a bit hacked on.

Improve your Stacks with some drawers

Nov 13th 2007 10:30AM (TUAW.com)
The whole concept of swapping out the stack icon with the latest file is just stupid. I get the general idea of what Apple was trying to accomplish, for if you had a bunch of stacks and each were a generic folder icon, you wouldn't be able to tell which folder was which (unless of course you moused-over the stack to see the tool tip). But the issue is that the content preview is so large it completely masks the folder underneath (especially at small sizes) so it looks like a document -- not a stack.

Things that make Time Machine cranky

Nov 7th 2007 8:47PM (TUAW.com)
Time Machine has yet to work correctly for me. It gets about halfway through, then the OS locks up and I have to force reboot my Mac Pro to do anything with it. Happens over and over. Clean install of Leopard, formatted hard drive. UGH.

Clearly Apple has their work cut out for them with 10.5.1.

Removing .DS_Store files from archives

Clean Archiver the way to go. It's what I use for all public ZIPs I place online.

Adobe updates CS3 Leopard compatibility info

Oct 28th 2007 8:48AM (TUAW.com)
What a weird question to start off with:

"Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to Creative Suite 3 customers?"

Uh....what? That's like asking yourself if something is important to you. Perhaps Adobe should have written, "Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to ADOBE?"

The Leopard countdown begins

Oct 16th 2007 9:54AM (TUAW.com)
No way. Not until I see Adobe apps running as expected. From what I've read elsewhere there were some serious stability problems with CS3 apps and Leopard developer builds, and I'm not about to screw up my daily workflow.

Bungie breaks away, goes independent

Oct 5th 2007 12:29PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Imagine how tired of Halo Bungie is at this point. People forget they were working on the original Halo for *years* for desktops before MS swooped in and they converted everything for the xbox. The die-hard Bungie employees are probably *dying* to work on something -- hell, anything -- new. Wouldn't surprise me at all if a number of people left the company now to pursue other projects and dreams, simply because of Halo fatigue.
