David Jaffe pleased with Bratner helming God of War film
Oct 1st 2008 4:34PM (Joystiq)Waiting patiently for more Kratos news wearing my Sparta garb and chains.
Warner Bros goes Blu-ray exclusive
Jan 10th 2008 7:13PM (Joystiq)Come on, think about it. Before M$ came out with the external HD-DVD player, the PS3's blu-ray capabilites had no real value.
Sure, they had plenty of support from HD-TV manufacturers, movie studios, and everybody else, but the value wasn't there because Bluray had no competition.
Then comes HD-DVD. The war creates buzz but, once again, M$ wasn't thinking about the value of HD-DVD, (the inclusion of an internal HD-DVD player and HDMI ports with all models) so, it maybe possible to argue that the 360 was never engineered to properly compete in respects to HD movies, display configurations, ect...
There's a clear line that has been drawn in the sand. It's becoming apparent that there is a CLEAR DEMAND for an HD movie (and possibly data) format. This looks very good for Bluray, and very good for SONY/PS3.
Losses in Sony's games division double
Oct 25th 2007 5:55PM (Joystiq)For right now, I've gotten my fill of XBOX. Halo's out and won't be back, Bioshock was great, but after that, all the games I want are either multi-platform or exclusive to PS3. I'm sure 2008-2009 will be an interesting time for SONY.
I want a PS3, (not a fanboy but XBOTS can now start throwing stones) I just want to wait until the price drops again or until MGS, GTA, and FF are released. Everything else I want is multiplatform.
Losses in Sony's games division double
Oct 25th 2007 5:23PM (Joystiq)Give us cheaper less reliable parts! LOWER PRODUCTION COSTS SONY!! Just give the consumer what WE want, a product that we'd have to replace every 4-8 months!
HAHAHA, I laugh at SONY and their stuuuupid 10 year plan. Build a reliable piece of Hardware with advanced technology...
Seriously, within 2-4 years, Sony would have fully recovered and recouped the losses through Hardware and software sales. I say keep doing what you're doing SONY. JUST HURRY WITH THE GAMES!!
Rumor: HD-DVD Xbox 360 in the works, fully loaded
Oct 24th 2007 7:33PM (Joystiq Xbox)I bought the HD-DVD player for my 360. YOU CAN'T PLAY GAMES ON IT!! Only movies.
There's plenty of people who bought XBOX360 w/o a Hard Drive who gripe about buying one just to play certain games. Imagine having to purchase an HD-DVD player just to play the next M$ hit!
AND I'M NOT HAPPY I HAD TO RETURN MY SYSTEM 3X's ALREADY!!!
Darn you, DARN YOU TO HECK Red Ring of Death!
GT5 Prologue priced: ¥4,980 on Blu-ray and ¥4,500 download
Sep 21st 2007 7:30PM (Joystiq)So from a consumer's standpoint, this is gouging at it's finest. A demo is traditionally free for Christ's sake! I'd be happy with a freebie demo, with 5 cars and 2 tracks....free.
From a business standpoint, this is a good way to recoup the production costs. I mean seriously, what do you have to lose if it would have been free anyway right?
-just my thought
LGC07: Kojima-san introduces Metal Gear Solid 4's boss characters
Aug 23rd 2007 1:50PM (Joystiq)Rockstar: Only GTA IV on Xbox has 'complete experience'
Aug 2nd 2007 1:16AM (Joystiq)I originally got a core version of 360 and I have to say, I'm not too trilled about paying for XBL, nor purchasing additional content, or buying additional peripherals on a machine that has such a high risk of over heating on me..
Sorry, if I'm going to be playing 90+ hours on a console, I am not going to be burdened by the fear that my XBOX may scratch my disk and burn out on me again.
I'd buy the PS3 version over the XBOX for those reasons alone.
