The smart business move for developers is to now make all of the achievements in their games easy to get. If you thought that easy achievements were a selling point before, now they actually MEAN something.
He's right in his comments that Sony's previous success was mostly due to good market positioning, and he's also right in saying that Sony doesn't have that same good market positioning this generation. What he seems to fail to factor in is the fact that since that the Playstation brand has become so powerful, they don't need to start out on the right foot to be successful. Look at the Super Nintendo, it came out late and faltered in many ways in comparison to the Mega Drive/Genesis, yet in the end it succeeded, mostly by Nintendo leveraging its brand power. Sony will do the same.
Yeah I have to second comment #4. It wasn't even close. GamePro struck me as being amaturish even when I was 11. Even though there were a few things that EGM did that were laughably bad back in that era, it was still clearly the best mag on the market. Hell, for what it was, Nintendo Power was better than GamePro.
I always hear that. And it's always a different thing that their biased towards/against. I've actually always liked EGM editorially, though I think that their formating/article focus could use some work. The redesign they did a couple of years back was almost a regression visually.
