What you're saying is not true about not being able so play PC on an HDTV, or sit on a couch while doing it. Either you are very misinformed with little actual technical knowledge or your are trying to misuse facts to prove a point. Most HDTVs have DVI and/or VGA which all videos cards have one or the other. Also HDMI is going to be put on some cards.
Have you ever heard of technology called a a wireless keyboard and mouse? Probably not. You see there are no wires so you can play them on your couch. And as a mousepad you can get a portable desk that would go over your legs at least for the mouse?
I was actually gonna buy a 360 for this game. Sure Gears of War looks awesome but Mass Effect is what I really want. There is a serious lack of good Scifi RPGs.
@Pretty what prevents you from playing PC games on a couch or on an HDTV? You can easily use an HDTV or 7.1 for PC games. You can play your PC anywhere you can with a console. You can even use a controller. PC moniters at the highend are better then HDTVs for resolution. High res moniters just aren't too good for watching video, unless it's already clean up and at the native resolution.
Some genres just don't work on console like FPS and RTS. RTS and FPS are better with a lot of keys. If you're anywhere serious about FPS games you'll use a keyboard and mouse.
But the same can be said for console gaming. Platform, racing, and fighting really have never worked on the PC. I play consoles also and I play the genres that work best with a controller.
Well for PC games I have to buy new especially as more games come out on Steam and Direct2Drive. Used games are hurting the industry. Gamestop gets 100% of the profit and publisher and dev gets none. I rarely buy used games unless it's a greatest hit or something not even made anymore. For PC games I'd never even attempt to buy used on ebay because someone might have just written down the CD key and screwed you over. For 360 games they are about $5 less with a beat up disk and crappy case.
Geez my mom's PC is better then those test rigs. Part of PC gaming is having the latest and greatest technology and having to upgrade. They did leave out Counter Strike 1.6 and Quake 3 tons still play those and the system requirements are rock bottom.
Well I back up all my games. I put the backup copy that I burned in the original case on the shelf. So when a thief comes in he'll just take them he won't have time to look through the cases. I do the same for my DVDs. I'm more worried about my gaming rig and consoles. A while ago I had a so called "friend" that put 3 N64 games in his pocket when I was in the bathroom. I never did get them back. I live in a low crime area most crime occurs when somebody leaves their door wide open lol. I keep most of the real copies of my games and cartiges of older games in cardboard boxes for stuff like folding chairs and crap with other things on top of them.
