Microsoft's training materials teach Best Buy employees how to trash Linux

Sep 8th 2009 12:39PM (Engadget)
True true they are going towards the average consumer, but I was there once and scared to death to use Linux. I got a netbook with Linux and after more than a year and many tweakings later, I love Linux as much as I love Windows.

I wonder why Microsoft is so scared... of Linux of all things? The average consumer isn't educated enough on how similar Linux can be to Windows superficially to even consider it. Unless Microsoft has noticed how simple Ubuntu is...

Maybe they feel confident up against Apple these days?

Apple's iPod event set for September 9th with nary a tablet in sight?

Hmmm, if the iPAD comes out then, it'll be just the right time for that time of the month. 1000 songs in my panties? Day one purchase.

This would be great for those newfangled minimalistic designed rooms. I hope this comes to market and I can remember about it.

VC/WiiWare Tuesday: Muscle Marches On

May 27th 2009 11:09AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Such a perfectly fun-looking WiiWare game. I would love to get a whole bunch of friends over to play this game and just fill the room with laughing gas or something. I almost wanna move to Japan just for this game.

Flat-panel TV sales jump 23% over last year, Vizio leads the way

May 11th 2009 7:31PM (Engadget)
I agree.

I saw so many great deals online, but the return policies for stuck/dead pixels turned me off, as well as the possibility of my TV spending some time sitting at my door in the middle of the ghetto as well as the surprise of possibly getting a broken TV delivered to me and then needing to send it back made me say screw it to online shopping and go to Costco for a Vizio instead. It just makes more sense to me to buy big ticket items locally so if there's any problems, I'm waiting hours, not weeks to get a resolution.

Very happy with my 19" Vizio in the bedroom aside from volume level 1 being WAY too high and of course, waking up to the glowing logo in the middle of the night. It's the kind of stuff nightmares are made out of. Vizio-sponsored dreams.

I'd prolly show it off to my brothers first. They would instantly fall in love.

Sony says the DSi is for kids, the PSP is for winners

Apr 4th 2009 5:00PM (Engadget)
Considering most of the updates to the PSP have been aesthetic... I guess the PSP was a little more well-prepared from the get-go for downloading stuff to it But I've always liked DS games better. They felt more like portable games rather than console games shoehorned into a portable device.

And what's wrong with going for the kids in a marketing standpoint? They have nothing but disposable income and guilty parents who'll buy 'em anything. Adults do have money to spend, but unless they're basement dwellers, they also have other things to spend their money on. They're like icing on the cake IMO since adults can purchase games meant for adults /and/ kids.
