Kinectimals review: Meet Dave

Nov 4th 2010 2:16PM (Joystiq)
I quite enjoy how the "mom" in that picture is piss-her-pants excited her son is lying dead on the ground.

Make your own iPhone 4 case from a souvenir bracelet

@Wonderboy

I can make a car look real sweet and leave out the engine for you, too. It'd be an awesomely designed car, it just wouldn't function as a car.

Students accelerate cubicle arms race with PlayStation Eye-tracked, iPhone-guided coilgun (video)

I just gotta say - railguns are pretty much my most favorite things *ever*.

Even though a coilgun technically isn't a railgun :(

Electromagnetically induced transparency could create a quantum internet, quantum memes

May 17th 2010 11:12AM (Engadget)
I don't really see the connection between this and quantum computing. Quantum computing involves the superposition of states of a qubit...this sounds more like the binary method we use in current electronics.

Saving your surfing on the Mac

I just tried out Snippets, and I really like the idea, but the UI seemed abominable. I couldn't customize the buttons on the sort bar (All, Authentication, Cocoa, Debut, etc..), and it has practically no support for the languages I use most (LaTeX, Fortran). I'll have to take another look closer to v1.0 :D

AT&T lowering cost of unlimited voice and data for iPhone users

Jan 17th 2010 4:22PM (TUAW.com)
Wait, what?! What's all this about "WE MUST PUNISH THE DATA USERS AS OUR NETWORK CANNOT SUPPORT IT!" I would think this new price point would only lead to MORE customers (yay for AT&T) using MORE data, thereby "decimating" the network even more (boo for everyone). Something doesn't follow here, and I'm willing to bet AT&T is lying through their teeth about it.

Large Hadron Collider breaks energy record, still won't power a toaster

Nov 30th 2009 2:36PM (Engadget)
I'd just like to point out that, while the LHC may not be able to toast a piece of bread, a piece of bread is quite capable of toasting the LHC.

TUAW's review of the DroboPro, plus a discount deal for readers

Sep 4th 2009 7:18PM (TUAW.com)
My only reservation with this is how do I get my data back if the Drobo itself breaks? I, admittedly, know very little about RAID technology, but it seems the standard setups would have some method of recovery if the hardware breaks down. The BeyondRaid system has me a little leery as it's proprietary.

Though I have heard the Drobots are amazing little machines, and I'd still undoubtedly buy one if I had the $$$ lying around :P

Snow Leopard: The new one gigabyte, now slimmer than before

Aug 30th 2009 9:46AM (TUAW.com)
Seems to me like the geeks are complaining because they won't be allowed to spin their propeller hats as fast anymore. I, for one, welcome the change and our conforming to the standards of EVERY OTHER BRANCH OF MODERN SCIENCE!

Daily DIY: A Penny for Your Thoughts

Jul 31st 2009 7:42PM (DIY Life)
Common misconception :) It is my understanding that you have to *fraudulently* deface the coin - like making a nickel look like a quarter - to be considered illegal. I see no fraudulent activity here ^_^

As for 'pulling money from the loop,' how's this different from a savings account? The property owner could have just as easily taken all those coins down to the local bank to deposit them.
