writing that at 2:30am EH? nobody dies in our waiting rooms, but thousands every year die in the USA because their uninsured. blah blah, i'm sure you've heard it many times, but why defend your nation's health care system when its among the worst in the world? i would rather wait a few months for a cat scan, than die because the quarter million dollar surgery 'isn't covered.' and i've made under 10 posts here, maybe because i'm not as insecure as some people. well... americans, really. you make us canadians (and the rest of the world) laugh our asses off. get an education. durrrrr
appeasement is the word i think you're looking for, but canada's government does not necessarily represent the views of the people. our position in afghanistan (not iraq) was initially accepted as a peacekeeping operation, but only recently has it escalated to the point of war. 100+ dead soldiers should not have to compensate for the united states' failure to handle foreign relations. americans should look and observe beyond their borders, instead of actuating their world view on others, especially when it's not fully understood; is your idea of freedom not having medicare or any semblance of a social-safety-net? americanization, and your failed capitalism is not the type of structurally flawed system that should be imposed around the world. sorry.
stromm, i simply said that in north america, companies are concerned primarily with "money, money, money," not myself personally. i just think it's ridiculous to expect a sealed copy of every game you buy. any error is just that, an error. humans make them every day. and the terrible wage doesn't help, as i said. my devotion and passion for the video game industry is the reason i've stayed at eb games, i could care less about how many 7-11's you've quit. maybe you guys in ohio should quit using your credit cards and buying too many games with money you don't have...
not surprising... american's often like to see themselves kicking ass - legitimately or illegitimately. the iraq war is an example of the latter; an illegitimate slaughter of innocent peoples, and the pillage of their land. you can bet i won't be buying or promoting any game that promotes this type of blunder on world history...
I've worked at EB Games in Canada for almost three years, and let me tell you we're as legitimate in our practices as any other retail store dealing with software or disc media. The problem arises in GameStop's poor (terrible) treatment of its employees.
Methenitis calls our packaging errors "deceptive," but from the perspective of a disgruntled employee, it's anything but. Do you think $9.05[cdn]/hour is enough to persuade my undying support for the company's profits? I really doubt it. The last thing I EVER consider is cheating a customer out of money, or frustrating him/her with a defective product. What's really important is to realize that GameStop/EB Games is a business like any other in North America; concerned not with service, but with money, money, money. SO. Stop blaming the chump behind the counter, and bitch about your taxes or something. We're sick of hearing your complaints...
nintendo should stop making promises. they haven't done a single bit of innovative work in nearly a decade. and i doubt their focus on "core gamers" will change that.
