LucasArts shows off Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron

Sep 19th 2009 10:00AM (Joystiq Playstation)
The graphics are horrible and they would not completely mention the features for the DS version. They kept saying the land to air based battles but did not specifically mention the DS version but rather kept making references to the PSP version and it's features...

Reminder: Early Scribblenauts launch today at Nintendo World NYC

Sep 14th 2009 7:18AM (Joystiq)
The ROM is on an official DS cart of 32MB, however once trimmed the actual usable data is 26MB. Now mind you that is small however 5th Cell has been able to do amazing things with all of their games, which by the way all use 32MB carts! Just think Scribblenauts, Lock's Quest, Drawn to Life, Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition have all been reviewed at aprox. 8/10 with such a small cart size. And their next game, which hasn't drawn any hype due to the release of Scribblenauts, is Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter which is coming out on October 27th. Just one month away!

You have to remember that 5th Cell's graphics are charming but really aren't that detailed or intricate. All of 5th Cell's games are 2d with simple animations; they don't include any voice-work or in-game vids, and most involve sub-par plots (barring Lock's Quest). Yet we love them because they blend gaming with innovation in such an amazing way. I've been playing Scribblenauts for over 4 hours and I haven't even started the game yet! I've just been creating ultimate death-matches and odd occurrences. Bravo 5th Cell, Bravo! And on the topic of ROMs, buy the game so they can continue to make more of them!

TMNT Arcade Attack assails DS this holiday

Sep 5th 2009 6:45AM (Joystiq)
It seems like the screens in the gallery show two different build versions. The HUD differences between the two "throwing" enemy screens includes a different power bar, fonts, screen character profiles, rating system, and better graphics. I actually prefer the health bar in the older build but like everything else from the newer builds. The health bar was more like the turtles "ooze container" in the earlier builds. You can also notice a big improvement in the graphics from the earlier build as well.

I can't wait for this game and I prefer the 3D style. I'd also love to see a sequel to this game which ties-in with the upcoming live-action movie currently in production. I wish they would release a 2D port of the recent "Turtles in Time" port from the 360 so we could have even more Turtle Mania! "Turtle Power!"

Rumor: DSi-only games coming this fall

Sep 4th 2009 8:48AM (Joystiq)
I hate the DSi, as the camera's are a joke. I wish Nintendo had just made a true successor to the DS like a DSii or something. What a waste and a way for Nintendo to get more money out of their loyal customers. Nintendo only thinks about money and what they can get from them. I've never seen a company so hell-bent on making money from 20 year old IP's. The DSi is a waste of time with no GBA and less battery life. I'll keep my DS Lite thank you, and so will many others. I think Nintendo will find many won't be supporting the DSi and those who do will be confused into it by thinking the games work interoperability.

Pachter expects GTA 5 coming in 2010

Sep 4th 2009 8:42AM (Joystiq)
I'd love to see another Chinatown wars or top-down view game. I think Chinatown wars PSP looks great and really returns GTA to its "roots"!

Scribblenauts UK release date erased, 'October 9' written over it

I really can't wait for this game! I love 5TH Cell and think they are so innovative!

Moore: 'No plans right now' for new NASCAR installment

This is just another great EA move. E.A. S-P-O-R-T-S! It's in the money!

Enjoy some sunshine with Gardening Mama

Feb 27th 2009 3:37AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
LMFAO, this video is great! I thought I was watching an SNL skit! This vid definitely makes me want to buy this game as her voice is Japanese sexy, lol. I don't like how they tried to make it seem that the Wii version of Cooking Mama was for the DS though. Also their are many examples of great cell-shaded designed games on the DS and the Wii version style graphics could have been used on the DS to make the game more interesting. I think better graphics would have brought the game to a more mature audience who simply think the game is for children just by looking at the graphics. Graphics for Cooking Mama DS are bland and simply don't fit with cooking which should be highly detailed. I mean how hard is it to make a highly detailed potato considering it's the only damn thing on the screen?! Anyone else agree?

LEGO Battles break out on DS this summer

Feb 4th 2009 8:46PM (Joystiq)
Now that the LEGO Harry Potter isn't coming anymore I'm not really excited. My favorite LEGO games were the Star Wars ones and even the first glitchy one was great IMO!

Oh and I thought when the new Joystiq Nintendo was launched they would be doing as they said, "Way more..." posts then they used to do on DS Fanboy but all we have gotten is at most three posts per day. Hell some days we even get only two. They simply make the posts look like DS posts by adding the DS tag to Wii games which have a DS release in the works. WTF, this is why I only visits this site once a day now. And what happened to all the great features we used to have? If things don't change soon I'll be leaving and from the looks of the slowing comments section so will many others...

Rumor: Gauntlet DS has died

Feb 4th 2009 8:40PM (Joystiq)
Damn! I hope the devs at least release a beta for us to play. I would pat a few bucks to play a beta rom version. This really blows as I was looking forward to this game. When I saw the image on the front page I got excited then I started reading... :(
