Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection hits XBLA, PSN on August 31 [update: PSN August 30]
Aug 23rd 2011 7:02PM (Joystiq)I really hope they don't do that, because if that's their intentions then I would rather wait for those and pay $20-$30 then buy this then those again... Especially because I already have MK2 on PSN/PS3 and UMK3 on 360... Not to forget I also have MK1 that came with MK Deception I think it was on and extra disc on 1st Xbox, and I have MK1, MK2, & MK3 on PSP and PS2 from the Midway Arcade Collection...
For another $10 for 3 games that are hopefully ARCADE PERFECT is hard to pass on, I just still wish they kept with the rumored HD Remastered of them... There's always room for some more MK lol
PS3 firmware 3.7 brings auto cloud saves and Trophy sync (for PS Plus members)
Aug 10th 2011 12:31AM (Joystiq)I still don't understand why it takes forever to update the PS3 and patches for the games. On the 360 the updates are fast, when it's a big update like for the Fall/Spring then yeah it takes a little bit, but it's still way faster than the PS3's updates any day.
As for the updates, again nothing really worth while. I would like to get PS+ just for the free games/content it gives, but I just don't know. I liked the free trial, just really don't have extra money for something like that, something I don't use all that much. It's bad enough that I pay for XBL service and never really even play online. I just keep it though so in the once in a great while that i would like to play a game online then I can without any hassle.
Only game I'd play online on my PS3 is Mortal Kombat and even then I still haven't tried it that much online because the last time I did it was so laggy that it wasn't even worth it. I know they've kind of fixed it, but I've been doing fine playing the CPU and or playing against my kids as we'll all play and loser passes the controller...
Everything else I get is usually for 360. I only get exclusives for PS3 pretty much, and that's only if it will upscale/support 1080i HD format. Because my HDTV is an older rear projection 65" that only has 480i/p and 1080i... No 720p support, so if a PS3 game is 720p only, then it'll downscale to 480p which makes it look worse than a PS2 game (most of the time) and sometimes unplayable. Plus it just ruins the game when it's ment to be played and seen in HD vs non HD... The 360 doesn't have that problem and will scale to whatever your TV supports... Obviously the only reason I got MK on PS3 was because of Kratos being on it and because it supported 1080i... Plus I think the controller for MK is way better and easier to us on the PS3 one vs the 360 one... Not to mention that i personally think it looks a lot better than the 360 version, one reason is it's not as dark as the 360 version and you can see pretty much everything in the backgrounds and all. That might be fixed via the brightness/contrast on a TV, but from what I've seen on streams and videos online, it's still dark as hell when it's from the 360 version...
But anyways, the update is available now...
PSN Tuesday: Red Dead Redemption discounts, Far Cry 2
Aug 9th 2011 5:56PM (Joystiq)I just knew they were going to release a "all in one pack" with all 4 characters for the price of 3. Oh well, bought every character since they were released... Just waiting for PSN's/PS3's god awful slow as crap update to finish so I can try Freddy out...
Arkham City's Batman is a fashionista, rocking six suits in his wardrobe
Aug 2nd 2011 5:36PM (Joystiq)I think the Dark Knight Returns and "70's" costumes are the legit costumes because on Gamestops site it shows a picture of the DKR costume on the limited edition versions stating you get early access to that and the iceberg challenge stage and when you enlarge the picture you can see the DKR costume in the lower right corner....
Double Dragon 2 remake 'Wander of the Dragons' headed to XBLA
Jul 26th 2011 3:12PM (Joystiq)If you get all of those, then when you load a joystiq page that has an embedded video that's not a youtube video then just right away hit refresh and then play the video and no more Ad's... If you don't refresh the page and you try to play it, then it'll just hang there and not play, like if its waiting for the Ad to play first.. Some sites though (mostly news websites and or others) won't play at all even if you refresh the page, until the Ad plays. For those sites then just disable Ad-Block Plus for that page only, refresh, and then the video will work, but the Ad will play... But that doesn't happen on joystiq.... Yet.... lol
All Ad's and commercials should just be banned entirely... We shouldn't have to sit through them if we don't want to, I don't care what I see, no Ad/Commercial ever makes me want to go out and get whatever they're advertising....
Double Dragon 2 remake 'Wander of the Dragons' headed to XBLA
Jul 26th 2011 3:03PM (Joystiq)I still don't even know why people have their panties in a bunch for the TMNT remake game because that was awesome and I never had any issues with it?
If anything, just so we don't have to have so many whiny people, just include an option that would allow people to change it between the classic/old/crappy look or the new enhanced/better graphics look. Just leave the gameplay from the original pretty much the same with just minor tweaks or enhancements to either balance it out better or to make it better overall...
I'm sure there's a bunch of games people would like to go back to and remake it and update the graphics/gameplay since the technology is way better than what they had to work with back then. I know I would gladly buy a re-enhanced version of an older game that I used to like/love playing back then, just as long as it was within a reasonable price and something over XBLA/PSN...
Capcom talks Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 leaks and new features
Jul 24th 2011 12:18AM (Joystiq)One interesting thing though, I was watching the Capcom stream/interview today where the guy doing SFxTekken was answering questions and he specifically said that "fans" said "If there was no Yoshimitsu in it then they would NOT get the game...
I know he probably doesn't have any pull or say for MvC3, but us other fans that know the value of the money we already spent (unlock others that just go out and buy every little thing Capcom throws at them) REALLY need to try and get Capcoms attention that we're just not going to get this newer version unless they give us a DLC option as well for the people that already went and bought the original version!!! I have looked ALL OVER for contact info for Capcom, but can't find anything other than a contact for their online store. But we have their forums, twitter, facebook, etc.. to try and use to try and make Capcom see that they are NOT going to get our money by doing what they're doing.... PERIOD!!!!
Plus they keep saying it'll be released in the "mid price range", well $40 is NOT the middle price range when games cost $60+... Even if it was $30 that's to much for something that we just purchased less then a year... $25 would be my max amount I would be OK with. Not happy, but OK. $20 or lower then it would be a for sure purchase and they could do that by releasing it as a DLC pack for us that already have the original game, even $25 would work...
Don't buy into their excuse that they could not release it as a DLC pack because it's "to big" or "to many changes", all of that is their BS excuse just like the earthquake and tsunami being the cause for all this... IT CAN BE DONE!!!! They don't have to make all the small changes like to the hud or stuff like that and still keep what is already there... They can basically get all the new characters, stages, costumes, gameplay tweaks and balance all in a DLC pack or two.... Heck I'm sure they could even tweak all the other stuff like the hud and stuff that is minor and not relevant to the gameplay in a DLC pack as well.... But either way, they need to really look at this option and we really need to speak up and let them know this is what we want....
Capcom talks Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 leaks and new features
Jul 23rd 2011 11:56PM (Joystiq)The main thing people are upset is that MvC3 hasn't even been out a year yet! This is just outrageous what Capcom is doing, and once other companies start seeing the fanboys like you throwing away money for a more complete version that SHOULD have been released as a DLC pack, they're going to go and do the same exact thing as well...
I don't care what Capcom throws in as a "bonus" for pre-ordering because I am NOT going to give them anymore of my money. Screw them and their greed. Plus half the characters the announced or should I say "leaked" SUCK anyways and if they were released individually then I would have gotten the ones I wanted and not the other crappy ones. I have seen/heard the same thing concerning a lot of the characters (mainly the Capcom added ones) that people just do not like or care for and wouldn't have gotten and that's why to I'm sure they decided to release a whole new disc version because they knew there would have been a lot of people that wouldn't have purchased all the characters and only just some of them...
