Nexus One review

Jan 5th 2010 12:17AM (Engadget)
As someone who is locked out of getting a Droid by the simple fact that Verizon which served me well in the past, does not get service in my apartment, kinda a big thing for a primary contact device.

So from my G1, this is going to be a good step up, I waited through the releases of the various other devices, waiting for a true 2nd gen, and while the Droid was first, this is the first that is accessible to me.

While it may not be the Iphone killer that many hoped for, or the leap beyond the Droid, I don't care about the Iphone, and kept my expectations moderated in relation to the Droid.

Let's remember that so far this platform has been quite moddable, so the inclusion of multi-touch may be limited now, but if they don't push it out themselves I am sure someone will.

Barnes & Noble 'Nook' e-reader with color touchscreen out Tuesday for $259, says WSJ (update: Best Buy connection?)

I really need to see this in a photo of some sort, rather than a publicity render, I have no idea what the scale of it is.

I really would love to invest in an e-reader, especially if I could get books from multiple sources. But really have no sense of how big it is compared to the kindle or even a normal book.

Ryan Condal is Adapting 'Queen and Country' For Fox

You really should check out the excellent collected editions, that they have put out, 4 volumes that collect the complete run so far, with the Declassified expanded mini-series as well. They included some great extras in scripts, art and interviews.

I am psyched, hopefully this powers through "development hell" and does well. With the resurgence of both the espionage genre with Bourne & Bond doing well, as well as the general comic crossovers.

CONTEST: Win Tickets to the 'Extract' Premiere!

As a fan of Mike Judges other film works, I would love the opportunity to catch a premiere of one of his movies.

Engadget's recession antidote: win a copy of Halo Wars for Xbox 360!

Jun 5th 2009 12:07PM (Engadget)
Not quite the economy, but to resolve wars, which by proxy eat up a large chunk of a nations spare change, which could be better spent on economic endeavors, I propose we take the Olympics event and just take it a step further, update with much more current, ie video-games, events, and then have countries play out for victory, with preset conditions upon victory.

What the heck is this?

I think I recognize it from the press photo's of Ron Moore's new pilot/series Virtuality.

So that might make it part of the ship that the cast is all traveling on.

Engadget's recession antidote: win TeleNav GPS software for your G1 with one free year of service!

I would love to be able to utilize this app, LA is sooo not conducive to random driving to places, and having that backing me up for the random times I get myself lost would be appreciated.

Engadget's recession antidote: win a 22-inch iZ3D 3D monitor!

Hey, it doesn't hurt to take advantage of any offer that comes upon us in these troubled times. Although I have just recently been hired, ending my streak of unemployment, I am always now in economy mode, so free or discounted things are always good.

Spooks coming to public television

Jan 21st 2009 7:29PM (AOL TV)
Personally, while I did greatly enjoy 24 in the first few seasons, I think that Spooks is a much better show overall.
The plots are not hamstrung by the "1 day" aspect, and seem to develop a much more realistic style of presentation that shows a better example of an espionage program.
I first got into it when they showed some of the seasons on A&E, the production company has had some ties with them, they are the same ones who created Hustle, another great program that you could argue is being adapted in the TNT show Leverage, which is a good example of the right way to bring a British show over to the US.

Joyswag: Enlist in the Call of Duty: World at War beta

Oct 17th 2008 2:39PM (Joystiq)
I would have to say Korea, it's slowly becoming a forgotten war outside of MASH reruns, and as disturbing as this sounds, could use the publicity that a major video game would produce.
At this point I think we all can recall WW2 & Vietnam, and after COD4's tangental relation to Middle East (Gulf War) I think its time.
Granted we also haven't seen WW1, but I don't think overwhelming mustard gas clouds and slow trench warfare translate as well to a FPS.
