@Naru now in 3D

An improved port... now that just seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it?

Second Alan Wake DLC episode 'The Writer' priced at $10

May 22nd 2010 7:16PM (Joystiq)
Hey Will, did you know it costs $10 to go see a 2 hour movie?

You're comparing apples to oranges but you'll never see it that way because you don't seem to understand the value of an experience.

Halo: Reach beta visually dissected by Digital Foundry

May 1st 2010 2:03PM (Joystiq)
I have to agree with you on this one. The Halo franchise will sell to its (large) core audience no matter what, ot to mention it has long legs. Even if gamers opt to buy the next Call of Duty game during the holiday, 2 - 3 months down the road they will most likely buy Halo as well if they're interested in it.

Also, unlike Call of Duty games, the Halo franchise is protected enough that it's not churning out a FPS game in the series every year.

Halo developer Bungie enters 10-year partnership with Activision

Apr 29th 2010 2:10PM (Joystiq)
Microsoft bought HALO, not Bungie, to be exclusive on the Xbox. Sure Bungie developed it but Microsoft wanted to own the HALO IP.

Halo 2 still kinda alive, thanks to some fans

Apr 29th 2010 8:34AM (Joystiq)
Halo: Reach isn't much different than Halo 3 - are jetpacks enough to make Halo 2 fanatics (yes, I call them that because they're STILL logged into a shut down game 2+ weeks after) jump ship?

Xbox division posts $165 million profit in fiscal Q3 on strength of Xbox Live business

Apr 23rd 2010 1:13PM (Joystiq)
First off, Xbox LIVE's revenue doesn't come solely from users money that pay for LIVE. It's like magazines or newspapers - do you REALLY think your subscription alone pays for all that? If so, GET EDUCATED.

Second, pointed out in other comments, Xbox LIVE is basically a windows domain with roaming profiles. The infrastructure is very robust and unlike PSN, you can invite people to your game even if they're not playing it.

This is why an overwhelming majority of game comments are brushed to the side - many are just plain wrong and written by ignorant gamers who really don't understand the first thing about how business is run.

EA launches free-to-play 'Lord of Ultima' browser-based game

Apr 20th 2010 10:56AM (Joystiq)
Have you tried it or are you just installing Ultima 7 (which you most likely won't) because that's your clever way of saying, "I disapprove of free-to-play micro-transactions"?

Honestly I'm curious why you stated what you did.

Daryl Gates, ex-police chief and Police Quest: SWAT designer, dies at 83

And we go back to the age old argument that this is nothing more than a blog site, albeit with a high viewership and advertising dollars, but it's still just a blog.

Settle down Mr. Facepalm.

In other words, you don't pay a god damn cent to view this site so what exactly is your gripe? Don't like it, stop coming, SIMPLE.

Roger Ebert's latest column posits 'games can never be art'

Apr 18th 2010 1:00AM (Joystiq)
I agree with Caveman, is a museum art because it contains art?

A game itself is entertainment which consists of artistic elements but that doesn't make the game itself ART.

I think most of us are getting ART and DESIGN confused.
