GamePro looks at Halo's influence on gaming

Apr 16th 2010 10:02AM (Joystiq)
Actually JJ is 100% right. People have been tea bagged since Counter-Strike (possibly before that).

I also believe "pwned" and "!!!1!!1!!!" originated from CS. Extremely twitch-game mixed with keyboard chat mixed with emotionally charged boys makes for interesting misspells.

XCOM re-imagined by 2K Marin for Xbox 360 and PC

Yeah, I was also excited until I read "...this 'strategic' and 'suspense-filled' first-person shooter...".

Isn't a strategic first-person shooter an oxymoron?

Bungie looks back on Halo 2 development

Apr 12th 2010 11:05PM (Joystiq)
If game developers went Valves way, you wouldn't have all the Castlevania's, Splinter Cells, Super Marios, Final Fantasy's, Halo's, God of War's, Metal Gears, etcetera sequels that so many of us enjoy now.

Half-Life officially has TWO sequels. Are Blizzard and Valve games THAT much better than the ones mentioned above? Not in my opinion they aren't.

Crysis 2 writer calls MW2 'an immense disappointment,' praises Uncharted 2

Sounds completely biased AND uninformed.

Personally I thought the story was very standard fare and basic (i.e. good enough to get the job done).

I never played the first one (CoD:4) so I can't comment if it's better or worse. I also never played Uncharted 2 so again, no comment.

New high-res Halo: Reach weapons and vehicle renders

Apr 6th 2010 5:57PM (Joystiq)
These are HI RES renders - the question then is, do they use the HI RES models in game. Most games don't.

ESRB rates Star Wars: Dark Forces for PS1 Classics re-release

Apr 5th 2010 10:06AM (Joystiq)
Dark Forces? Reuse the title but don't reuse the game. It was good for its time but level designers were constricted by resources as were all team members so this game was "good for what they had".

People aren't missing much if they haven't played this game already simply because they don't have the emotional attachments those of us who already have.

'EGM: The Lost Issue' launches, offers free preview of EGMi: The Digital Magazine

Performance (on my PC) is dismal thanks in part to Macromedia's (Adobe) flash platform.

- Design wise it looks great.

- The audio transition between pages could definitely use a little fade - the abrupt changes from a great and epic sound to pure silence is just plain harsh.

- Because it's flash, the text is not nearly as crisp as reading it from a website / blog.

- Good luck reading that on the iPad ;)

I was thinking 'i'nteractive.

Somehow Apple stole the 'i' from meaning interactive to meaning internet - i mean music - i mean apple products.

Although in all fairness to Apple, the iMac's shitty name has been around longer than the iPod.

See DICE's unfinshed Genesis shooter, 'Hardcore'

Instead of just re-releasing games on XBLA & PSN, how about releasing games that didn't get to see that light of day on Sega consoles.

I'd definitely pay $5 for a NEW game before I would a port - unless of course it's something along the lines of say... Phantasy Star 2 or 4.

Nintendo stock rises following 3DS announcement
