Microsoft apologizes for suspending 'Fort Gay' gamer

Aug 24th 2010 5:44PM (Joystiq)I agree with your analysis of their grading system, and I can't disagree with using the entire 1-10 scale, but so many of the reviews from EG are so low, they're laughable. I think they're past the point of using the whole scale, and now they are relishing in it. I've played some games, and said, "wow, this is like a 9" and then read a few reviews, and they point out a few flaws that I glanced over, and then I change my opinion of the game. So, further, my question to you is, do you really think it's spot on, or was your view skewed by the editorial staff?

May 13th 2010 11:07AM (Joystiq)Also, gross is important in this case, because I can quickly calculate that 10 million games sold = $600 million in gross profit. Out of that, I think EA can probably afford the $5k in storage costs.
Also, games retail for $60, not $6. Re-check your math, idiot.
PWNED! BOOOO YAAAAAA!!!!!

May 12th 2010 10:10PM (Joystiq)Let's say that 1 user profile is 1MB (which it's probably closer to 100kb) and you store 1,048,576 MB on a 1TB hard drive. I can get a 1TB WD hard drive on newegg for under $100. Let's say that they sell 10,000,000 copies of Madden 2010. It costs them $1,000 to store every profile. Hell... let's throw in a RAID setup and it costs them $5000 in storage. I think they're probably ok storing that data for $5k after grossing $600,000,000 from the sale of the game.
Keep in mind that I'm only talking about the data storage, not the server upkeep, etc.
