Because most, if not all, retailers in the U.S. have a store policy where they don't sell M-rated games to under-17s. Also, it's unconstitutional in the U.S. for legislation to use private sector standards (such as the ESRB) to restrict sale of entertainment products.

It's pretty much one of those too much governmental control/if it ain't broke don't fix it/let parents do their job things.

Alex, 'balanced' doesn't mean that everyone has an equal chance of winning. A balanced game leaves most, if not all, of the result of the race up to the player's skill. There's no skillful or strategic way to use items in Mario Kart; they are entirely results of pure luck which drastically change the results of the race. When luck renders a player's skill moot, the game is not balanced in the slightest.

While unnecessary, tacked-on multiplayer isn't bad as long as aspects of the single-player game weren't sacrificed to create it. You don't have to play it if you don't want to, and multiplayer brings an entire new audience to a series which might otherwise not see that audience. At best, it just means more people will decide to buy (and enjoy) the game, allowing the developer to continue the series.

Given that the cops were looking for this guy, it's fairly safe to assume they had a warrant for his arrest, in which case it would be legal for the ISP to hand over personal info.

Probably Shadow Complex, but I'd buy Wipeout HD if I had a PS3...that game looks amazing.
