This is your chance to ensure that any casual reader will most likely read your comment before getting bored and stopping after the third comment and moving to the next article. The first comment slot pulls an audience the size of the article author himself....and yet you blow it on the cliche and hated "first" knowing full well it will yield nothing.
A painter does not respond to a blank canvas by punching a hole through it. Why would you throw up like that with "first"? Seriously, I am curious as to why it makes sense. I have never understood it as I am rarely this close on the comment chain to someone who pulled that comment. I would enjoy a response....buuut I suspect I myself have already broken at the two paragraph rule of blog comments and lost you along with 90% of the other readers you have driven to your reply field...
