Jan 6th 2011 12:00PM (Joystiq)Or, to further the "kids" analogy, Kid 1: Nickelodeon, Kid 2: Uh..Nickelodeon 2? OR - Kid 1: TV (Nick), Kid 2: Video Game
Don't make a set top box support this, its just not going to happen. Instead bake the support for PiP style viewing into the TV itself and you'll sell units.
New Amazon Kindle announced: $139 WiFi-only version and $189 3G model available August 27th in the US and UK
Jul 28th 2010 8:59PM (Engadget)I only wish Amazon had some sort of deal along the lines of:
Buy the paper version of the book, get a token for the Kindle version free.
I'd buy a Kindle in a heartbeat. I love reading books on it and all its features. I DONT like the fact that I have zero actual books to build a real library with.
Call me old fashioned but when I'm 50 I wanna have a room in my house with thousands of books that I can go in, sit in a leather chair, sip some cognac and read a real, paper, book.
Can't do that with a library of Kindle files... :(
A year of gaming tweets condensed into one image
Jul 28th 2010 7:57AM (Joystiq)re-tweet, as in, I say "hello" and you say "rt hello".

Latest EVO 4G root uses Flash Lite exploit to do its deed
Jul 6th 2010 2:44PM (Engadget)I don't know enough about jailbreaking to comment on that, but my initial argument was that stock (bare bones) Android is significantly more open than stock iOs.
Once they are rooted / jail broken, I'd imagine both are nearly identical in terms of being open.
I know I can do literally anything I want to my Evo, even at its own expense. Unsure about a jailbroken iPhone - never owned one or researched one.
Latest EVO 4G root uses Flash Lite exploit to do its deed
Jul 6th 2010 1:40PM (Engadget)People root to get access to things that real basic consumers have no business messing around with.
Thats why its not 100% open. A 100% open platform would have 90% returns the next day when all the idiots out there are like "SO THER WAS THIS APP - IT SAID, OVERCLOCK CPU, so I SET it to like... FIVE GIGAHERTZ - phone EXPLODED?! Why?! REfund!!!!"
Latest EVO 4G root uses Flash Lite exploit to do its deed
Jul 6th 2010 1:26PM (Engadget)2.2 has been available on the Evo for weeks now...
It was nearly perfect cept for a few bugs (namely Camera support), but those will be fixed within the next 48 hours because of the release of the source code.
So yeah, if you can root your Evo, you can have 2.2, no problems...
