What annoys me the most about this is that people are stupid enough to buy it. I know that we, as gamers, like to think we're more intelligent then others, but from experience, most gamers are gibbering idiots. Does this bar 'do' anything for you? It's caffeine. The caffeine you get from a Headshot bar is the same as you get in a Rockstar is the same you get in a Mountain Dew is the same you get from tea (in differing doses, but I digress). Now 'gaming' is a market ripe for brand-name association no matter what it is, the 'Abercrombie and Fitch' of LAN parties.
For example, look at Sound Blaster's "new" card, the 'Fatal1ty version' or whatever schlock it is. Is the card really that great? No, it's actually just a previous model with a few whiz-bang gadgets and polysyllabic words attached, and in reviews, it's actually a poor performer. However, Creative slaps a few hundred dollars on the card and markets it 'FOR GAMERS' because they KNOW people are stupid enough to buy into this crap.
I'd love to ask how low they think of us, that if you combine "energy", "natural", and "guarana anything" in a title you can sell it to gamers, but the depressing thing is that it actually works.
Are any of you really stupid enough to buy a console for "OMG LEET GRAFIX"?
Even a 'cheap' HDTV still looks like total crap. It's like buying a $2000 computer and then playing a game like Prey at 640x480- it doesn't matter HOW powerful the hardware is,
IT WILL LOOK LIKE CRAP ANYWAY
Nintendo is SMART for putting, as you logic-void idiots say: "inferior parts" in their console, because not many people own a $3000 HDTV. Anything less then one of those big-ass TVs will look like crap anyway. My computer runs at 1900x1200 (or around there) and I actually SEE the detail my hardware provides. I play ChromeHounds on my roomate's "HDTV" and it still looks like ass.
BF2 was a decent game plagued with horrible balance issues, awful ideas (that scoreboard / ranking system was without a doubt the worst concept I'd ever seen), and the same shoddy BF engine.
DICE has yet to iron out the resource-hogging, the spotty netcode, or simply make their games run smoother.
Furthermore, 95% of BF players are total idiots, so while I personally would prefer a Tribes2-esque game where you need teamwork, and the most 'fun' moments don't always involve fighting, I know that EA knows that bunnyhopping around with a grenade launcher and idiotic twitch FPS combat will sell more to the HALO / CS:S crowd.
But on the other hand it looks like Planetside. And PS was total sex (until SOE ruined it).
Headshot! Food for gamers

Rational gamers choose subsidized hardware, all else equal [update 2]

And then I realized what this game reminds me of.
C&C Renegade.
