Fanswag: Win a copy of BioShock, get it overnighted (Part 2) [We have a winner]

You should NOT be excited about Bioshock because Utopian ideology is for nerds. Plus, the story is a blatant rip-off of Fritz Lang's "Metropolis"...there's even a flood at the end!

My favorite thing about Bioshock is that I'll be able to play it on my PS3...oh wait, nevermind. Is there an Apple IIgs version?

Joystiq Poll: What do Wii think?

Apr 27th 2006 5:07PM (Joystiq)
I do agree that this name is a bit suspect from a gaming standpoint. And I do agree that mid-teen wankers are going to be a bit reluctant to embrace something with such a "silly" name. But everyone else with half a brain will see that, from an electronics standpoint, Nintendo is branding their machine beyond the gaming market.

Gamecube, Playstation, Xbox; they all just sound like a "Game-playing-box". Ipod, Viiv, TiVo...Wii; these names sound like elecronics, and thus, are more appealing to a mass-market (which is Nintendo's approach with this machine). Don't be surprised to see a wealth of Wii advertisements and promotions outside of the traditional gaming medium. And don't be surprised if it does, in fact, get noticed by the "non-gamer".

Pee jokes and inuendo aside, at least the new name has meaning, and at least Nintendo is sticking with it's philosophy: A community of users, a community of developers...Wii.
