Dec 26th 2007 12:43PM (Joystiq)Because there was this dark time when you play Nintendo or playstation or you was some freak like me who play PC games. Mech Warrior, Diablo, Star Craft, Doom etc..
Later Xbox and Microsoft begin what we can call the reborn of American video games. Because more people play their games beside PC players, no because they were dead.
But if you ever play consoles, it seems american developers are practically new. Where is my diablo?

Dec 26th 2007 12:30PM (Joystiq)Japanese games all, but Silent Hill 4 (seriously what was that!) Was like a Corage the cowardly dog episode.
I play Slent Hill 0 made by an American team this time and it feels goods, like a return to silent hill 1 and 2, I have the same impression whit 5 is like American developers keep the main substance and only add better graphics. Its feel like some of the last Japanese designers do to many unnecessary changes like Fatal Frame 3, the repetition is annoying nothing like the great Fatal Frame 2.
And we can say the same about FF 10 repetitive, not 7 any way. FF12 looks like some one want to copy gild wars, the main story is so ambiguous they should let you name and design your own character.

For example, MGS3 or Halo 2 were expensive and difficult to develop but in those days, no one expected to have a investment return in one day and the rest of the year profit. Every one have more modest expectations like sell from 5 to 10 millions over a year.

Just say since Halo 3 was realesed every one sales expectations have raised. When Halo 3 was launched, was the first time I hear a studio says "we going to sell a million the first day".

Seriously before every one waits to make 3 to 5 millions in total sells and says it was very good.
Halo turn all this game developers greedy, look every one running to western studios to make more American appealing games. This is madness!

If they have a advertising team as good as Microsoft I don`t see why not.
Seriously my dear friends, Mario, the great mario! only 500k first day. And he is a favorite, is Wii, is Nintendo, had great ads.
MGS4 can sell 1 million if they pay as much as Microsoft pay for the Halo 3 Ads. Is too much money!
