Marvel vs. Capcom 2 FightStick, other new Mad Catz fighting peripherals spotted at GameStop conference

Sep 11th 2009 1:42AM (Joystiq)
Zero, first off, Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons maybe the same size, but they're bigger than Happ buttons, which are only 28mm in diameter. And of course Sanwa/Seimitsu parts are the parts used in the Blast City cabinets, they're both Japanese. And to be fair, though it maybe a choice of preference, stiffer sticks are better for playing MvC2 on. Buttons don't exactly make a difference, you can mash on any one of them, but a Happ Comp/360 with a stiffer spring is a high recommended stick, especially over the Japanese ones. The main reason for this is because of the massive amount of times that the stick needs to be put into neutral, most notably, Sentinel. Sentinel's fastly, refly and unfly combos need to be put into neutral between attacks, and without a harder spring, it's much difficult. Plus with a smaller deadzone like the ones found in Japanese sticks, it's harder to get to neutral without hitting the other switches. The most commonly used stick, the Sanwa JLF, it's not that great at ALL for this game. The looseness definitely helps when playing other SF games, but for Marvel, trying to play high level Sent with it is really frustrating. Samething applies with the LS-32, the tiny deadzone makes it more likely you're going to hit another switch. The only Japanese stick that comes close, and is actually a decent alternative, is the Sanwa JLW. I personally think that's an even better choice to the Happ sticks. It's got the perfect distance for microswitches, a square gate, and a stiff spring, at least the stiffest Japanese one. You might hate Happ parts, but it seems that most of the hate comes from your building experience with them. Sure they're stiffer and that doesn't help either, but it's definitely a different perspective when you're a stick builder.

Street Fighter IV producer: Console-specific characters 'not very fair'

Aug 29th 2008 10:33PM (Joystiq)
I agree with Jim, don't boot him just cause he spams moves, if anything you should boot yourself because you suck. Have you ever played Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, with a little annoying fucker named Original Sagat? Watch videos, it's all "Tiger" "Tiger", because he can cancel his kick into a fierce tiger shot. But guess what, doing this WINS. And after all, all that matters is the victory, and if you truly are "better", then you would find ways around the spamming and beat the spammer. Not saying that once you spam alot that means you're a spammer, not at all. Sometimes it's just how the character is used the best.
But, Cable is NOT a beginners best character. He's top 4 overall in MVC2 for a reason, Your opponent isn't going to just stand there and let him AHVB you. Overall cable needs learning just like any other character to use him when you CAN'T AHVB. Such as timing the AHVB against a HSF, when you don't have meter and still have to fight the opponent, or simply when there isn't an opening to use AHVB. In fact, despite how easy AHVB is to execute itself, "Good" cable players are pretty hard to find. The only ones that really come to mind are, Duc Do, Rowtron, Justin Wong and MAYBE cable guy.
