Tretton talks up need for 'cutting edge' tech, MS and Nintendo falling behind
Apr 8th 2011 9:18PM (Joystiq)Also one last thing, When Ken Kutaragi said those seemingly arrogant things, he truely believed in his product. He thought his company was offering something great. Right or wrong he was an old world business man who fought hard for quality. There is no place for this in a world of fast and cheap these days.

Apr 8th 2011 9:14PM (Joystiq)You know after all Sony has done to innovate and push the industry forward, making QUALITY hardware that isn't underpowered, cheaply made, and endless AAA video game titles this is how you judge the entire company??? By some dumbasses opinion?
When ever I buy Sony their products are long lasting well built and have the bells and whistles almost at the same price as the competition. When I stray from their products I get nice neat things that fall apart in a year.
Just like Dave Chappel said about why he qute the show, "every day I fight for you. I tell them how smart you are. Turns out, I was wrong. You people are stupid."

Apr 8th 2011 9:01PM (Joystiq)You make everything so black and white, its sad. I don't hate Activision, because of Kotick, its because of the ACTIONS of the company as a whole! I could care less what Kotick says, as long as the company is doing its best to move the industry forward, but that is not the case Activision in its entirety is bogging down the industry with stale games and over exploitation of IPs and dismantling studios they should have never bought out.

Apr 8th 2011 8:56PM (Joystiq)SO WHAT? Are they suppose to fire him after every interview you dont agree with or he doesn't play nice? I disagree with him, I disagree with the words he chose to use, but its his opinion! For f*ck sake you can't fire a guy everytime he says something people don't like. It doesn't make him a monster or Hitler. YESSSSS he is being douche, but you know there are plenty of people probably in Sony slapping their forheads as we post.

Apr 8th 2011 8:48PM (Joystiq)My point is, he as a CEO was a caring person who ran the comany VERY well I might add, and despite this they still gave him tasks and projections to meet that no other CEO in the companies history had ever achieved, then forced him to quit. The board that ran the company was bad. . . despite him being good. His good "face" only covered up this bad company. The situation with Jack is backwards. He is a publicity dumbass in a great company.

Apr 8th 2011 8:43PM (Joystiq)Look I would post this if I didn't know something about this. I know a former CEO personally who ran a company that worked for the city. He's power went about as far as the board let it. The second he started helping out minorities and low income people they told him strait to his face they only hired his kind to save face in the public eye. They harassed him till he quit. That is a CEO in nutshell.

Apr 8th 2011 8:35PM (Joystiq)Not really. CEO are usually appointed my committees or board of directors, etc. . . to run a buisness the way that group sees fit. CEOs are basicly spokes men that simply puts a face on a complex managment network. His power is pretty limited. Do you think Tony Hayward really ran BP?? No, he simply took the sh*tstorm that followed the Gulf disaster, they provide the public a simple whipping boy to throw stones at, and the real puppet masters keep the show going.

Apr 8th 2011 8:28PM (Joystiq)That's like saying if President Obama is for universal healthcare, America is for universal healthcare? Sony is really run by several people in committees, a network of managers, and in individual department heads all influenced by stockholders. Tretton is only a figurehead and can be easily removed just like the former CEO Ken Kutaragi. Behind the scenes these guys really answer to other people you've never really heard of.
