Resident Evil 5 wasn't altered after racial kerfuffle
Jun 4th 2008 1:54PM (Joystiq)There is always somebody ready to jump on your back when you don't say exactly what they want to hear. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. If what someone says is racist, sexist or any other type of political incorrectness, well then we have the right to know they are a douche, ignorant or just plain retarded.
On another note, I said retarded. Is it politically correct? Hell no. Retarded is a word that describes someone who is mentally handicapped, or something moving slowly. Either way, it is a descriptive word that I have every right to say; and anyone reading this has the right to call me a douche for saying retarded.

Sep 25th 2007 3:47PM (Joystiq)When you pull the trigger on a light gun, the screen shows 1 frame of an all black screen with a white dot where a target is. When the program checks the gun, it looks for light (white) or no light (black). At least that is how the NES gun worked. It might be a little more complex on newer guns, but still the same concept.
You could point your gun in duckhunt at a light and it should always count a hit.
Anyways, the last time I checked, the wiimote has the infrared and the accelerometers. A programmer needs to combine all the variables that these different devices return and use them to move something in a game.
If I was programming for the wii, the first thing I would get down is the x,y and z acceleration. Map it 1 to 1. With a little buffer for each axis to smooth it out. There would be a brick on the screen and moving the wiimote would move the brick.
Are there angular accelerometers in the wiimote? Is there even such a thing? I don't think there is. I've played wiisports and it seems like you just need to move the remote forward and backwards. You don't need to actually swing it in an arch. That probably makes it a little harder.
O.K., I've lost myself in thought. /rant.
PS3's Stranglehold coming with Woo's Hard Boiled in HD
May 17th 2007 9:41AM (Joystiq)if it needed two blurays, one for the game and one for the movie, the 360 version would be on atleast 3 dvd9s.
Which brings me to my second point,
W3sk3r,
bluray is stupid. It made the ps3 too expensive and it is not needed unless the game is going to be packed with prerendered hi-def videos.

Apr 18th 2007 7:15PM (Joystiq)I have an integra. It handles the exact same in real life as it does in forza. My brother has a talon tsi, it handles the exact same way it does in real life. My dad has a 3.2cl-s, it handles the exact same way it does in forza.
In forza, you look on the internet for how real people tuned their real cars for specific tracks, and it works perfectly, if you know how to drive and the person came up with good settings.
My uncle has raced some of the cars in forza in real life at road america, he said it was dead on.
My friend used to race a miata at places like road america, road atlanta and he said driving the miata in forza with about the same mods (weight reduction, roll cage, intake, exhause, etc) felt the exact same.
In forza 2.
They made it even more realistic.
Every actual race car driver that has played it has said it felt just like real life. Ferrari's team loved it. On their first try, everyone who has actually raced a real car killed everyone who hadn't when they were letting the public play it.
They've had other drivers say they want to use it to practice tracks.
If according to race car drivers it is basically like real life, minus the g-forces and 360 degree field of view, I'll take their word over yours.
Polyphony wants to add damage to gt5 but said they would need to remake everything to accomodate it and it would be really, really, really hard.
the gt games have always been simplified. Even the creator (no I don't remember his name) said that they would rather it be fun than completely authentic. Also, try doing a brakestand in gt.
