VIZIO's 2010 LCD lineup is LED from top to bottom

@FitFan

I agree.

I'll wait till at least next year though to buy a television. By then probably every set will be locally lit rather than edge lit, and everyone will have figured out the 3D stuff.

Microsoft roadmap pegs Windows 8 release for 2012, or just after the world's end

Somehow Ubuntu keeps pushing 6 month releases. Other linux distros manage 1-2 year turnarounds between releases. Ignoring how Linux distros have significantly more contributors than Windows, 3 years is definitely enough time IF you don't try to pull a major refactoring, such as what they did with Vista.

NVIDIA Tesla 20-series GPUs promise to dramatically cut supercomputing costs

Actually it's a very nice feature. Have you tried putting a cluster full of tesla cards together? If your motherboard doesn't have onboard video, the only way to debug these things are via ssh, serial connection (also motherboard dependent), or by putting in a graphics card. I like the single DVI port idea, so I can get a KVM to the machine.

Left 4 Dead 2: now with 4 times as many pre-orders

Nov 6th 2009 3:25PM (Joystiq)
Myself and my friends weren't going to buy the game at $50. It wasn't enough value over the first game, and presumably why people were screaming that it could have been DLC. We were planning to wait 2-3 months until half price weekend, which is when we all bought L4D.

However, Steam ran the B3G1 deal with 10% off. For only $33.75/ea, we could get the game at launch instead of waiting for a $25 deal 3 months after launch (presumably after the Christmas season).

OpenOfficeMouse isn't free, isn't pretty

That's what we just said at work. Slide your keyboard around, have window focus follow your "mouse" and you can just glide from terminal to terminal.
