Sony's restraining order against Geohot granted

Jan 27th 2011 7:07PM (Joystiq)
@maveric101 This is exactly right.

The gun manufacturers use this logic all the time they say "Sure we manufacture and distribute a product that COULD be used for killing people during the commission of the crime, but we aren't liable, the person who actually used the tool we created to kill is the guilty one, not us."

Then they get removed for the lawsuit, and we're talking about killing people not finding some poorly obscured keys.

I'd buy some land around Bree and open The Dancing Pony Inn. You know, to capitalize.

Rock Band Weekly: White Zombie, Turbonegro

Feb 13th 2009 1:54PM (Joystiq)
No one finds More Human than Human very rap-like in its presentation? Wow. I thought I'd see all kinds of people saying there can't be any rap in a ROCK Band game. Considering the stink that was raised over Snoop Dogg coming to Rock Band, I figured there would be an issue with the style of More Human Than Human, but there isn't. I wonder why that is?

The Media Center Extender shootout

Jun 20th 2008 12:56PM (Engadget HD)
What happens when you move away from SageTV? Can you still use the Sage Extenders or do they become garbage?

This is what has kept me away from MC Extenders. I don't like the idea of separate hardware tied so closely to software.

The idea of streaming HDTV to my un-cableboxed TV is intriguing, but I'm not going to spend $200 on something that I have to throw out after I move away from the Sage application.

Harold Perrineau not happy about his stint on Lost

Jun 2nd 2008 11:11AM (AOL TV)
I don't think he is saying what you think he is saying. I read it as meaning he thought redemption for his character should not have meant death, but reconciling with his family. In a sense, by killing him off the writers and producers have inadvertantly created another young black boy with no mother or father, thereby playing into a larger stereotype of which Perrineau wanted no part.

Think of it as an Asian person not wanting to play a kung fu master or a South African not wanting to play a white supremacist. That's not racist. That's not wanting to play up a misconception.

President Bush to make appearance on Deal Or No Deal

Apr 21st 2008 9:55AM (AOL TV)
Look everyone a 28%er. Let's all slow down and gawk at the puppet. I don't know how people like you continue to function with Rush, O'Reilly and the rest of the FauxNews crew taking turns shoving their hands up your ass. But if you're like pretty much every Rethug chickenhawk you're definitely enjoying it.

You're watching Duel on ABC

I liked the concept. I'm a fan of Jeopardy and think a skill/knowledge-based game is much better than random guessing (Deal or No Deal and Power of 10 I'm looking at you).
Things I liked:
- Head to head competion
- Choosing your next opponent
- Rushing the other person
- Ability to choose more than one answer
- Sudden death
- Top 3 play for the grand prize

Things I didn't like:
- Building suspense - works for guessing games but not for knowledge based games, you either know the answer or don't
- Banter - you don't need to ask the contestants opinion every time they answer a question
- Pacing - way too slow, even Bingo Night moves faster, remove the previous 2 points and it'll clear up the 3rd.

This could be a good game show, just don't attempt to mimic other shows in the genre and you could have a keeper.

Can rap find a place in music games?

Nov 28th 2007 5:09PM (Joystiq)
Considering that most of those guys "singing" (live, even J-Lo can sing in a studio) consists of shouting into a mic while following the melody I'd say that they're about equal. Besides, lots of rappers can sing, I point to Queen Latifah's live performance at the AMAs recently as an example of a rapper singing.

Ummm no, you're saying that in order to rap you need to have gold teeth and crunk juice. I'm saying that it is a stereotypical a view as doing the soft shoe in black face.

I erroneously said racist which I retracted and am doing again. As Eminem is one of the most successful rap artists ever and Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby one of the best selling singles proves, being black is definitely not a prerequisite.

Okay fine, you can safely omit racist from my statement, but the rest still stands, as it is essentially no different from shuckin' and jivin' in black face.
