Swag Sunday: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) [update]

Feb 14th 2010 5:33PM (Joystiq)
I want an airship named 'Picadilly Slug.' There's sort of a long story to this that isn't anywhere near as interesting as the buildup makes it seem, but it involves farting in bed, a very startled cat, and about ten minutes of hysterical laughter.

I'd never be able to ride in that airship without a dumb grin, and, let's face it, if you had an airship like that in the real world, a dumb grin is pretty much required.

BioShock 2 hacking minigame could cause issues for colorblind gamers

Feb 13th 2010 11:34AM (Joystiq)
So a casual game company can do more for its customers than one of the ones that cater to the more hardcore clientele. That's nice.

Popcap, for most of its puzzle games, includes a colorblind option. Puzzle Quest, from a different manufacturer, used the simple expedient of also adding a symbol inside each color ball. This isn't hard to do, doesn't have to affect the overall aesthetics of the game, and opens up the gamer market to a wider audience. It's possibly worth noting that males are more prone to color blindness, the initial demographic for most games. I'm not colorblind, but my husband is, and I feel a little bad for him every time I have to take over the controller to help him out. Don't mind in the least, but it'd be nice (not worth a revolution over) if it was something more frequently thought about by devs.

I LIKE it when a company is willing to put that option in there, and I'm willing to give them MORE MONEY if they do so. Focus on that MORE MONEY part. A very simple thing, and ... MONEY. Holy crap, it could fall like rain.

X10: Welcome back to Albion, Fable 3 screens emerge

That first shot looks a lot like something from Demon's Souls to me. Which is neither good or bad, just a resemblance.

I've been meh on the first two games. Pleased that we were able to play a woman in II, but my god, no matter what happened, she looked like a hulking she-beast. Kind of hoping that's adjusted a little in this one.

Swag Saturday: Darksiders for the PS3 + loot galore! [update]

The size of that sword in the game, I think I'd name it "Cloud's Folly."

Am growing incapable of seeing any giant sword without thinking of Cloud Strife or Guts from Berserk.

Thank you. I keep my grammar wanker locked in the closet as I ought, but that's one of a few common errors where I keep pointing at it and grunting forlornly.

WoW 5th Anniversary Giveaway: Spectral Kitten loot code

Oh my god, he's adorable.

Especially since we're collecting real-life kittens over here this week, just adopted a new boy.

WANT.

Ask a Faction Leader: Nexus-Prince Haramad

When he remarked that they were 'too big to fail' I nearly crapped a kitten. Excellently done.

(Murder is arguably easier when dealing with 401ks, true facts)

To Borderlands director, a sequel 'seems like a no-brainer'

Ending Spoiler Talk:

Actually, with some guesswork, there's the bones of a really good plot there. You're a merc/treasure hunter that got hoodwinked into a gigantic corp-war between rival gun manufacturers. The planet is either a testing sandbox for the multiple factories, or potentially the source of the next huge reverse-engineered evolution of weaponry, or both.

Tannis is backed by Atlas, who gained superiority by reverse-engineering alien tech on Prometheus. Your actions are guided by a Hyperion satellite who 'helpfully' pushes you into the line of fire against Crimson Lance, who are also backed by Atlas.

I wish they'd kept the character backstories, but it definitely felt like a Merchanter's War type deal. Not exactly CJ Cherryh, but fun stuff.

Truly, I sense Satan's hand in this.

And I LIKE IT.

Blood Pact: The birth of a warlock, page 2

First aid is one of the best things a new player can do for themselves, although I also like to tell new toons to take Herbalism for at least a while. Not only are the herbs decent to good money, Lifeblood can be a real ass-saver for any new character without a self heal. Not critical in the least, but one of those nice things you can do for yourself.

First aid, though. TAKE IT.
