XBL Indie Games Uprising returns this summer, taking submissions

Jun 16th 2011 6:03AM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) As much as I agree that would invigorate the service and make the games true competitors to XBLA, the rational side of me disagrees with this idea simply because of the number of Avatar: The Burning Earth-like achievements (for those that dont know, that game gave a full 1000 pts for 5 minutes of gameplay).

It would probably be worse - XBLIG would be flooded with games that gave you all the points just for buying it and paying the dev money, thus invalidating the whole point of earning your gamerscore through completing...*achievements*

@Faceless Troll

Depends on what you're referring to -
Portal 2's line was over an hour at just about all times, but...it's Portal 2. Pretty sure EVERYONE in the convention center wanted to go see that.

3DS..waited maybe 20 mins. Gears 3...again maybe 20 mins. Other stuff was longer, but not 'everything'.

And while your comment may have some truth to it with regards to the Expo Hall, it was a completely different story with the panels. Last year just about every panel's line was at capacity over an hour before the show. Some maybe an hour and a half - people would be going into a panel and the line for the NEXT panel in that theatre would already be full! If two panels you wanted to go to were near each other time-wise, you had to pick.

This year...most panels only filled up 5 minutes ahead of time, if at all. Only the incredibly popular ones that were also after the Expo Hall had closed filled up really early (The Day[9] and HuskyStarcraft Saturday panel comes to mind).

In this way, the new venue was a huge improvement, especially because the lines for most of the exhibits were fine as long as you just kept checking for when they would be slower.

12 Days of Joyswag: Fable 3 rucksack with Collector's Edition, book, and controller

Worst bug...wasn't a specific game, but worse -

few years back, when Xbox LIVE was collapsing after Christmas from all the new users (and we got Undertow for free)...

i recovered my account to a friend's Xbox..when I recovered it back, the recovering process failed. I deleted the profile and re-recovered it, but afterwards it refused to associate my saves with my account, essentially rendering all my saves as useless. T_T
