Samsung BD-P4600 review

"just assume stick with"??? Really?

It's "just as soon stick with"… c'mon, did you read that and it made sense to you?

Hometoys.com has been deemed an "attack site" by Firefox… any other more reputable sites you can point us to carrying these products?

Target ditching the 360 Core system too?

Aug 7th 2007 5:52PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Definitely lose the Core. It's a bit of a painted-in-the-corner scenario, but that 20GB HD price MUST drop, and they might as well do that for the separate SKU unit. Cut a deal for people with legit CORE SN's as a mail-in rebate, perhaps, to let people get their HD on with minimal funds. Say.. $30? If you don't have a core.. normal price for you!

The HD is essential, I think, for the long-term XBOX strategy. It just makes sense to drop the core ASAP so that number of machines becomes a smaller and smaller percentage of the population as time goes on.

Modders' Xbox 360s banned from Live

May 18th 2007 11:42AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think it's good.. look at all the cheating on Halo 2. If this stems that tide, I'm all for it.

Not surprised MS is trying to stop piracy too, but honestly, I am more worried about cheating, and they are too, when it's their flagship product.

Not to hate on the PS3, as having free reign on a good portion of the hardware through LINUX is cool, but I can see games like the upcoming SOCOM having hacks and mod cheats like Counterstrike and worse than Halo 2 in a heartbeat and with much less ability to stamp it out.

I like to think that some of my LIVE subscription costs mean that I have a relatively fair and clean online gaming experience (Screaming and bigoted idiots notwithstanding).

Microsoft responds to Sony's Home

Mar 9th 2007 3:29PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think that lots of people will like it, but as a launching point for games at large, I think it won't be such a useful space.

I think that the "hardcore" or even more than casual gamer won't spend much time in the space compared to people that like but are intimidated by SecondLife or love the Sims.

I would hate all that space wasted when all I want to do is game with people. It's not really neccessary or all that useful to have animated 3d trophies anyway.. considering you get the achievement.. and well, that's the point... I don't lovingly look at the icons that are associated. I don't think a 3D trophy would change that...

PGR3 image used to promote Gran Turismo HD

Sony shouldn't *really* be the one to blame for this, as a huge corporation... but they sure look stupid. Managers, Project Managers, Advertising Contact, the Graphic Designer, etc.. all down the line. One BIG mistake wasn't caught by anyone... likely because few of the people in that chain knew/cared about the difference between one videogame car shot and another... except maybe the soon to be fired/reprimanded designer and his firm.

Pretty hilarious that it wasn't caught by someone at Sony or Sony Online that cares enough to know.. even sweeter it was Major Nelson to bring it to light.. ha!

Games on more than one disc: do you care?

Nov 24th 2006 5:17PM (Joystiq Xbox)
In response to #42.. if my single disc game is scratched and unplayable I need to repurchase the whole game again too.. what's the difference? The 2 or 3 disc game isn't likely to be 2 or 3 times the price... and if you've had it for a long time, likely you can pick up a used copy or it might be new but discounted.
