New DLC brings afros and bikinis to Final Fantasy XIII-2

Feb 16th 2012 8:25PM (Joystiq)
@remakeyourself wait what? XIII had alternate costumes in game? When did this happen? Oh right it didnt. This is also not just paying for characters as this is a whole new scenario added to the game and you are able to recruit Sazh after you finish his story. The previous Light battle was paying for a character (although she's getting a future story expansion also) this is not.

In defense of Xenogears

@dckfc Yes it is worth a buy on PSN. ESPECIALLY if you've never experienced the game before. It has one of the most thought out and brilliantly told stories in a RPG. The combat system is also refreshing in that it was a big change up of anything on the psOne. If you liked Xenoblade (which I would go so far as to say is the best RPG on a home console this Generation) you will frekin LOVE Xenogears.

Although the second disc is like people say and is more story than gameplay, the story is EPIC so you wont mind. And also the first disc is over 45 hours in length, which is not to shabby when you add another 20-40 hours on the second disc.

It also has one of the best soundtracks to a rpg ever! Yosunori Mitsuda really brought his A game to its OST. I'd go so far as to say it even slightly surpasses Uematsu's Final Fantasy tracks.

tltr: BUY THIS GAME NOW

Not How It Looks Theater presents: Mega Man X (isn't) in UMvC3

Nov 13th 2011 10:16AM (Joystiq)
@Acosta02 Yeah But each one of those played different, Marvel Super Heroes had Different Characters than Children of the Atom and had a Jewel system of powerups. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Streetfighter had a different cast than vs. Capcom and in my opinion played more fluidly than any of the vs. Capcom series. Capcom also introduced a new mechanic in the four player special moves where you could use everybody on the screen. Saying those games are just balance revisions of each other is like saying that Street Fighter Alpha is like SF II and SF EX.

They've burned me one time too many already, although I do love the MvC series, or better yet ALL of their fighting games, Megaman, and Devil May Cry. They have successfully SCREWED ME in all of these franchises this gen. With each first release of their fighting games, Capcom has said that they would release a base version and add dlc, yet we have Super and Arcade Edition for Street Fighter 4 (although Arcade is dlc too) and Ultimate MvC (which they have NEVER done for the vs. series). On Megaman, they've cancelled my most anticipated game from them for the last 10 years (as Rpgs are my favorite genre) that had a Lot of heart and soul. Finally with Devil May Cry, they've changed their stance on the new game so much that they dont even know what it is they want to do with the game or seemingly series.

Devil May Cry preview: From black to white

@electriceye I always find it funny when people complain about this series getting "stale" or whatever. Each game in the series had different gameplay styles with only DMC 3 and Dante in DMC 4 playing alike. DMC1 was completely different from 2 gameplay wise, and 2 was different from 3. If not for the Dante retreading part in 4, Nero played completely different from 3.

It always just seems kinda funny that a game like DMC needs a reboot while Call of Duty is the SAME game released yearly, just with different maps and a new excuse to sell you more maps 2 or 3 months after launch.
Not targeting you specifically but I find it hilarious how people keep saying Japan needs to reinvent itself and that its games are stagnating, but at least they try and invent new ways of playing a game.

I'm starting to believe that people just want Japan to fail just because of their "anime" inspired character designs and the opinion that Japanese created stories and characters are all the same, when the West does the exact same thing. The only difference is that the west uses tolkien fantasy or war settings (real or imaginary against an all powerfull alien race). Very seldom do you get anything different out of each territory and yet people tend still give praise to our Western Games. I'm all for having home pride but damnit people need to stop putting other cultures games and ideas down just because its not what we have here, I mean different cultures DIFFER for a reason. The day we stop having variety in types of games is the day I quit gaming!

Dont really know why I typed all that, must be tired, Night erbody:P

Capcom Europe: Mega Man Legends 3 canceled due to lack of Devroom participation

Jul 21st 2011 2:05PM (Joystiq)
The reason Capcom didn't develop this game is because they don't care about the Megaman series or fans (as evident by him not being included in UMVC 3). Inafune was the only one who still pulling for Megaman and when he left so too did Megaman's support. If a game isn't pulling in Millions in sales it will be abandoned at Capcom. I mean take DmC for example, it was "rebooted" because DMC 4 didnt pull in Dead Rising 1 numbers, but it still sold more than Dead Rising 2.
The ONLY reason Capcom wont make their great single player games anymore is because their isn't anyway to microtraction them to hell and back or release "alternate reality" stories to them! Dead Rising 2 is getting a rehash this fall because the story is crap and it's being made as an "alternate reality" game. All of their fighters get rehashed with only minimal changes that could have been in the original versions; characters could be dlc, balances should be patched in, as could spectator modes. They release a glorified minigame for full price and release multiple RE's with little to no effort being put in (except maybe Revelations, but that has yet to be seen) yet cant take the time or effort to do the same for a story that THEY left incomplete.
Capcom will never again reap a dime from me, as the games I buy from them from now on will be bought used. I really wanted to support Cyber Connect with Asura's Wrath, but seeing it published by Capcom, they wont see a penny either.

Capcom: Mega Man Legends can't come to PSN due to licensing

May 20th 2011 3:02PM (Joystiq)
@KiDPANDA Look for Legends 2 online and if you can find it relatively cheap GET IT!!! Legends 2 is a FAR better game imo. The only thing I disliked about it was the change in Megaman's voice actor.

@gatotsu911 The Legend's series (sans Megaman in Legends 2) had top class voice acting. Just because the actors aren't movie stars or haven't voiced hundreds of different games doesn't make them crap.
