SimCity saves heading to the clouds, bringing the game beyond the PC

Mar 7th 2012 7:39PM (Joystiq)
@haincha
Unfortunately, I have an Android phone. I like it a lot, but it is painful to watch iOS devices get all the nice apps (at least initially). I'm sure there's a few good simcity clones but I think a dedicated app that ties directly to the game would be awesome.

New iPad announced, features 2048 x 1566 resolution [update: pricing and availability]

Mar 7th 2012 7:02PM (Joystiq)
Every single year, Apple announces a new iPad, and every year I try to be as open as possible. But this thing is literally the exact same thing as the first iPad (which was mediocre at best) with a camera, high resolution display and a spec bump. And a lot of people are acting as if this thing is a game changer. I don't get it.

Sim City on my phone? Dreams come true (well, most of it).

Japanese hardware sales, February 20 - 26: Greatest idea ever edition

@MJD8000
Games I'm most excited for:
Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros., Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, Professor Layton (other game, already released in Japan), Kingdom Hearts, Luigi's Mansion 2, and the next Super Mario. A few other good games were announced, I just can't recall all of them.

See how the Vita's first-week sales stack up in this handy infographic

I'm buying as soon as the price drops or another version's released. My 3DS can hold me out for a while but the Vita's pretty nice.

Rumor: Valve working on 'Steam Box' console standard with customizable controller, biometrics

Yes, because I totally said let's get rid of Direct2Drive, Gamestop's downloading service, Amazon's and GoG. Steam is the only thing that should exist. Ever. Period.
Oh wait, no, I just want to prevent EA from creating a monopoly by forcing people to use their definitively inferior service, which will just lead to greater disjointedness among PC gamers. Not to mention the horrible prices their store has. Origin has absolutely no positive aspects. EA needs to let Gamestop and all the services host their games using their platforms.

@Kougeru
You mean how EA is trying to dismantle the already disjointed PC community? Or the fact that they're mining your personal information? Have you even tried to play Battlefield 3 on Origin? The in-browser menu is the most absurd, cumbersome menu system for a game ever.
Go on Steam right now and look at the weekend deals. Go on Origin and do the same.
And Steam downloads just fine for me. Same for my brother who's in a completely different state.
Also, it's pretty obvious that Steam would use more RAM. It has the community pages built right into the system, not to mention the fact that it has a library for games and videos (trailers, clearly) as well as a news section.
Not to mention, Steam's security features are far above Origin's, most notably Steam Guard and their support team is faster at resolving issues.
I guarantee you most people download Origin because of ME3 and BF3, whereas most Steam users come from people hopping on winter and summer deals. Yeah, sure, you can claim Origin is better at every single thing in the universe in comparison to Steam, but it's actually a much, much worse service that's only hurting the PC community and giving EA greater control.

Everything about this sounds fine, except the part about supporting Origin. Please let that service die ASAP.

Your Mass Effect 3 PC pre-order lets you pre-load the game now

Just bought my copy on Amazon. Don't know why anyone would buy it on Origin considering that Amazon gives 10$ credit and still lets you pre-load.

I have never heard of another game where you play as a Native American killing either just the redcoats or just the Americans. I doubt one even exist.s
