Battlefield 3's 'Back to Karkand' will be part of regular map rotation

Nov 11th 2011 6:30PM (Joystiq)
@Mr Hett And how are you going to rent BF3 with Online Pass? Fool me once... my used copy was worth less than half due to that as well. Better to just steer clear unless you know the game is for you. Dang, got to go sell my online pass for UC3 on Ebay...

@US 447 If it keeps all the tall grass snipers out of COD with quickscope BS then I wish BF3 a long and prosperous run.

@CarmineSaved Yeah - hard to come back when you kicked its sorry ass to the curb after 5 days of cursing servers and then cursing the gameplay...

Editorial: The broken, sputtering launch of Battlefield 3 online multiplayer

@INTRO Nothing but problems - and then once I got into a game I was severely disappointed. Traded in on Saturday, EA Online ScrewOurCustomers ensured it wasn't worth much. I can't believe anyone would bother to finish the SP 'campaign', and the MP did nothing for me. Just sorry I bought into the hype.

New Xbox 360 update incompatible with some models, MS offering replacements [update]

@BtheCarp Sony screwed their customers by having insufficient security but most ridiculous is storing your original password. SOP for 30 years is to one way encrypt your password and store only the encrypted version - that way even they don't know your password, can only reset it. Any site that can send you your password instead of a reset only is obviously using improper security measures, don't use a common password with them. And yes I'm a ps3 owner, although it only gets used for netflix these days.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood players complain of game-breaking Animus glitch

@PhilipJWitow - getting trophies is a complete waste of time, how silly. Now if you were on the xbox then I could completely understand trying to get all achievements. I mean they add up to something ;-) . How many golds equal one platinum??????

2011 Infiniti IPL G Coupe priced from $47,950

Of course it makes sense. Sure, you can drive like a hooligan and rip it up in every gear (feels like a long time to get to the power unless you want to rev it and drop the clutch off the start), but it has no midrange - something like 260 flat torque, which means you're not even at 260 hp until until 5250rpm, and this car is HEAVY. So basically you have less torque in most situations than my mildly chipped A4 Avant, but right where that car runs out of breath the G37 hits its stride and keeps riding that torque plateau until the magic of RPM turns it into serious HP.

On the highway where aerodynamics start to mean more than weight to acceleration it pulls well - and feels like it would keep accelerating forever. I do generally just drive around in 6th at highway speeds - again the A4 'feels' faster between 60 and 70 than this car does, a bit of that being the turbo push when you tip in the throttle. The G is so linear that it does feel slower than it really is, but once at 70 it shoots to 100 with ease.

All I'm saying is that this style of engine is more at home in a lighter sportscar like the Z. Used in the G37 (which is more of a GT) or for sure in the sedan, it would make a heck of a lot more sense to tune the engine for midrange at the expense of top end. The Stillen turbo package might fix this issue right up, but I'd hate to think how bad the fuel economy would be then given how it already slurps up the fuel.

2011 Infiniti IPL G Coupe priced from $47,950

I have a 2010 G37 6MT, and the last thing it needs is more HP. It needs more torque! The car is heavy and without much torque is kind of slow until you get to ludicrous speed, at which point it takes off and runs until the cops take your licence. I need more useable torque, not an engine deigned for 370Z or to trump everyone in the marketing race with a sheer HP number win. The new Volvo S60 will probably beat this car everywhere but the top end as well as the BMW 335 and others.

On top of that, not one design team talked to another. Want to adjust the seat? Better open the door because your hand won't fit otherwise. There are at least 4 different messages/warnings you can get with a key in them somewhere that show up in the dash. It beeps and boops with no apparent reason. Just nothing like the cohesiveness of Audi/BMW designs. I did get a great lease deal, but this one is going back at the end of the lease for sure. Did I mention this has the worst clutch of any car I've ever owned? Really for all the luxury features its a little rough around the edges. It does a great job of being a GT car on the highway, but that's about it. Tell you the truth, the more I drive this car with so much supposed HP, the more I think a Mazda2 would be a heck of a car.

Infiniti details 2011 model year lineup, two new packages for G37

Jul 14th 2010 3:17PM (Autoblog)
I bought a G37S with 6MT back in March, largely because it would have been 50% more to lease an A5 with less stuff on it. I find that it is uncommunicative, has a lousy clutch and shifter, poorly designed user interfaces for all the tech it has, and it isn't particularly fast unless you drive it like a hooligan, with less torque at highway cruise than my 2.0T Avant with more weight (oops - forgot to mention its just too big and heavy). You have to rev it out in every gear to get close to those vaunted 330hp. I'll have to find a way to make a german car more price competitive, because although it does have some good points, these negatives are just too much to let me enjoy the car. If even the car's drivetrain worked like a company that has been putting out sports cars for 40 years I could overlook the rest.
