Minecraft available now on Xperia Play

Aug 16th 2011 8:37AM (Joystiq)
Seems like it really is available in the United States too. I got rid of my Xperia Play because I was sick of hearing people announce new PS one games, and other games such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but I couldn't find them, and after I dig deeper, finally I find a website that admits, "as long as you're not in the United States."

Now I have a Nexus S 4G, which is a device that, if it announces it can do something, it will actually be able to do that thing.

Joystiq auditions for The Tester Season 3

This reminds me of The Tester season 2 auditions. No one stood a chance because Mickey Paradis used his position as a gaming blogger to win people over. No one had the audience he had. Now that everyone in Joystiq is auditioning, it has officially become useless to audition.

Move.Me now available, free for teachers/students

There seems to be a problem if you have a period before the @ or more than one period after it. I fall into the latter category, since my email's format is "name@students.university.edu." Because it's not just "name@university.edu," it thinks I'm making it up. I checked the PlayStation Blog last night and a lot of people were affected by this issue, so I hope it gets rectified soon.

WipEout, Syphon Filter 3 join European Xperia Play library

Jul 11th 2011 2:09AM (Joystiq)
@dragunrising Well, I bought it because I wanted a new Android phone, and I wanted to get one on Verizon Wireless. So I got one that just so happens to be PlayStation Certified. I just wish PS one games would come over here sometime.

When it was (finally) formally announced, they said one of the first regions they wanted to release it in was the US. Not only did it come out two months later in the US than in some countries, but a lot of articles I read seem to talk about apps available for the phone as if what's in Europe is available worldwide. I hate to complain though, since I'm sure that's how you guys feel most of the time.

Why does no one know if PS one games are ever coming to the American Android Market for American Xperia Plays? It's preloaded with Crash Bandicoot, but that's it. I remember a news article where sales weren't that big, but that doesn't explain why they won't even try in America.

Games mentioned in Google Plus source code

No! I've been convincing people to go to Google+ by saying, "It doesn't have any of those stupid Facebook apps and games." I just hope Google doesn't become Facebook as quickly as Facebook became MySpace.

Hirai to address PSN security breach at 1 a.m. EDT

@eat it
"I'd rather have someone from PSN explain it."

All of the US PlayStation.Blog entries regarding the outages have been written by Patrick Seybold, the Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media for SCEA and Sony Network Entertainment. That's probably as close as you're going to get when it comes to hearing straight from PSN. I think it is a very good idea now, though, for Seybold to continue with his frequent little online updates while Kaz Hirai makes a larger statement on behalf of the entire company.

It's not like Obama talking about the oil spill. Kaz Hirai is very much the figurehead of SCE and the main scapegoat for all its woes. The appropriate communications guy has been talking, and still is, but the situation has become bad enough to where the CEO needs to work on bringing back confidence in the brand to its customers, especially since PlayStation fans know him a lot more than they know Seybold.

@jazzyjff
Here's hoping! I'd definitely get some mileage out of a YDKJ game for Android.

Halfbrick's Age of Zombies now on Xperia Play

Sweet. Awesome. Now all we need is for the Xperia Play itself to be released. Or even have an announcement of a possible date or price.
