It doesn't 'sense' anything, but it does allow the Wii remote to 'sense' its location.

So that's why you can still call it the sensor bar.

And a wireless sensor bar is as simple as rigging up something to deliver the same amount of power to the existing sensor bar provided by Nintendo.

I knew it! I say that they must've started making them before the firmware was finalized. I think it's a pretty smart move to get more units out the door on day one.

They've used the same name and design of console since the N64, so I highly doubt different names in different regions.

Everyone thought the early leaked GameCube logos were fake, and they turned out to be real... who knows?
