Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch: the full interview
May 26th 2010 1:27PM (Engadget)LG's Windows Phone 7 phone caught in the wild, looking good
May 20th 2010 12:59PM (Engadget)The specs for this are locked down, so you won't see ANY OEM devices with more/less than 3 buttons, lower resolution, lower performance, etc. than what is required by MS. The OS will not be tailored to each OEM, aside from mayyybe a default app or two Which means, competition will only drive this thing forward. No dinky phones trying to push the OS to tailor to a cheaper demographic or BS like that. Only way to compete will be to add or boost hardware specs. I for one, loove that idea.
All I can say is haters be damned, I have an iPhone and before Tuesday I was pretty intrigued by the prospects of the WinPhone7, but now I'm on the cusp of jumping ship to this thing. I'm stoked about it.

Steve Jobs publishes some 'thoughts on Flash'... many, many thoughts on Flash
Apr 29th 2010 1:30PM (Engadget)Flash not being an open standard and controlled by Adobe isn't necessarily all bad. It prevents development pains HTML5 will undoubtedly face of multiple browser engines that render the code differently and perform differently. Where with Flash that cross-browser compatibility development energy can be focused elsewhere.
Saying HTML5 is a "standard" is like different brands of white bread are exactly the same: It may be the same thing with virtually the same incredients but will look and taste slightly different and each "cook" (browser engine) will produce it in different ways, for better/worse. If any HTML/CSS/Javascript is standard, why the hell do I have to account for 5 or 6 different browsers and versions, instead of just using one without worrying how the others look.
Either way, there are pros and cons to both. If he's so confident flash will die off why doesn't he just allow it, and let the end user decide. Otherwise it's just a baseless prediction that won't ever come to fruition. The flash platform can evolve too ya know, Steve.

Updated Windows Phone 7 videos show Office doing awesome things
Apr 23rd 2010 6:09PM (Engadget)IMHO it seems the OS itself is not complicated to use in and of itself but rather simplifying tasks that would usually be complex on a mobile phone...and looks as if they're definitely on the right track. Altogether, I think it looks pretty slick and intuitive

Apr 23rd 2010 6:09PM (Engadget)I've never hoped to have buyers remorse before, but if this continues to be as promising as it looks, I'll gladly suffer it and consider jumping from the iPhone 4G/HD I'll no doubt be upgrading to from my 3G in a few months.
