Square Enix job listing reveals preparation for 'next generation platforms'
Mar 13th 2010 1:17PM (Joystiq)A few things that need to happen for MS to continue to be successful when the next gen is upon us:
1. Most important, release a product that is reliable. They will kill themselves if they release another product that has problems close to what the 360 had. If they do, stick a fork in them.
2. HDDs. Sony wins big by making it easy for users to use their own HDDs. Storage will most likely be a huge part of the next gen. If MS decides to continue the unjustified raping for HDD prices, it will hurt them big time. If you wont allow consumers to buy their own Off the shelf hdds, they damn well better make their versions more practical and affordable. The pricing for theirs as we all know is just ridiculous.
3. MS cant afford to take for granted the success it has had this cycle. If they get too comfortable and think people will buy the next console just because of their success this gen, they are wrong. I think theyll be okay though and continue to improve, giving us the best possible experience. They need to go all out with the hardware like Sony seemed to do with the PS3. Sony covered pretty much everything with the PS3, which is why a quick glance at their specs and the console as a whole, out shines the 360, albeit not by a large margin, but big enough.
.xxx TLD delayed once more
Mar 13th 2010 1:03PM (Download Squad)Im not a parent yet, but I can only imagine that its not easy to block out all sorts of content that most would not want their children exposed to. I would favor such an effort to someone force porn sites to use .xxx addresses but again, im not sure how youd enforce it. Its far too easy to come across some of this stuff by accident. I believe its the parents responsibility to oversee their children and monitor what they are doing, but at the same time, like I said, its easy to come across certain content by accident.
Im not for filtering and banning of content, as I believe in freedom of speech. But I do believe something should be put in place to further aid in the protection of kids or even adults, who shouldnt or dont want to see certain content. I guess there is paid software you can use, but Im not sure how well it does the job. I guess when I do have kids, Ill be looking in to it.
Square Enix job listing reveals preparation for 'next generation platforms'
Mar 13th 2010 12:25PM (Joystiq)Id like to think both companies have learned a thing or two from any mistakes they made this cycle. Particularly, MS with all the issues its had with the 360 hardware. I really believe they will put out a much more reliable product while at the same time further expanding and improving the overall gaming/entertainment experience. I think we indeed get not only 3D gaming but much more than that.
So while most of us are happy with the long lives of the current generation, I think many of us still look forward to what awaits us next. I am in great anticipation for it and if it came next year, I wouldnt complain one bit.

Mar 13th 2010 10:32AM (Joystiq)Dont you get it. The thing in Washington is do as I say, not do as I do. Its okay to be hypocritical in DC apparently. Especially when you are a celebrity President.

Mar 13th 2010 10:03AM (Joystiq)They should do that with health care too. If you want to take the government run health care, fine, but then the government should have the right to keep you from stuffing your face with ice cream every day. More importantly, the government should leave the rest of us alone who dont want their crappy health care and want to keep our the current plans we have.
We already have far too many entitlement programs as is, but is it any surprise this administration and people like Pelosi want to create more programs? Hmm, im sensing a theme here. They want us to have to rely on them. Sorry, no thanks.

Mar 12th 2010 9:09PM (Joystiq)Dont feel bad. Apparently, the same group who down vote you for liking Kiss, downvote others who dont like Lady GaGa, a trashy freak who crawls on stage joking about having a "cock". Her words, not mine. Just goes to show you the mentality of many who visit this site. Pathetic
Im not even a KISS fan but I respect them as a classic band who did good things for the genre.
