Myst novel optioned for film

Jul 29th 2009 11:29AM (Joystiq)
I know you were trying to be funny with the comment, but if you actually read the books (and yes, there are Myst books), you'd find there was more than just "lol purdy, dur hurr hurr" to the Myst universe.

Why they picked "Book of Ti'ana" instead of "Book of Atrus" is something I don't quite understand; BoA takes place just before Myst, and covers both D'ni, Riven, and Myst, which gives it more connection to those who played the games, while BoT only covers the fall of D'ni some hundreds of years before Myst even takes place.

Sorry, triple post...forgot what typecodes can be used...

The path should read "your primary hard drive letter":\Users\"Your User Name"\...and so on.

Well, that's odd...posted out of order...

If you notice files missing, or things in the folder not changing, go to :\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86 if you have 64-bit)\World of Warcraft (or Wrath of the Lich King Beta). This is where Vista stores all potential unauthorized changes to installed programs with low security levels.

Anyway, to prevent WoW from installing or moving things to another directory in Vista, just do the following.

Go to your Program Files directory, right click on your WoW folder (or Wrath), then click "Properties" -> "Security". Hit "Edit" then select "Users" and check "Full Control". Do the same for "TrustedInstaller". Click Apply. This will tell Vista that the program and the user running it are allowed to change the contents of the folder, which includes saving screenshots, configurations, and addons.

Forgot to add, if your downloader is running slow, check to make sure "Don't throttle background download" is not checked, as this can sometimes cause the downloader to use as much resources as it can to make your download go faster.

WotLK official release date... maybe.

From what I played at BlizzCon, i'd estimate the release date to be at earliest June, and at the latest, August. A majority of the terrain was done, but there still has to be NPC population increases (I could almost go from one end of the map to the other and not see a mob), more quests, and the final adjustments to the talent trees.

What we got to play with is a PTR running 2.2.x and one somewhat incomplete zone...no new talents, spells, or anything else.

Also, consider that there is most likely going to be another closed beta for the expansion, which should run for about two months to check for most errors. Their main focus this time is to prevent the problems that they had opening day for Burning Crusade (zone congestion, lag problems, etc).
