DS Daily: New DS or 'new' DS?

Aug 28th 2008 9:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'd like to see a backwards compatible DS2. One that looks almost the same as the DS, albeit has maybe a bit wider screens, a top touchscreen, better speakers, a better microphone, a tilt sensor and/or accelerometer, and near-Gamecube level hardware (enough to launch with Super Mario Sunshine DS).

If they want to go a little more expensive with the DS, consider this: a digital camera, and an SD card slot. That way games could use the camera for face tracking and "altered reality" games and you could take pictures, save them to Slot 3, the SD card slot, and then pop that SD Card into your Wii and see them on the Photo Channel.

I don't care if they take out the GBA slot personally. The new DS should have enough RAM to have a web browser and should have tilt inside it.

I for one wish more developers would fully embrace the digitally distributed only route. It's way more convenient and it's better for the environment.

The best game I've played on the DS is Hotel Dusk simply because it was an amazing story that had emotion and intrigue and kept me on my toes.

I think arguing about gaming consoles on the internet can be a bit of harmless fun until people take it WAAAAY too seriously.

NPD's latest software tie ratios for consoles

Ugh, I'm sick of people saying "why argue about who's doing better". It's a console war! You pick your favourite and have fun rooting for your guy. Who cares if it's a corporation, everybody loves a competition, and when it comes to gaming this is the most high profile and important one around.

Party poopers, let us have our fun. It may be a bit silly rooting for one gaming corporation over the other, but it's still less dumb than American Idol!

Zero Punctuation beats up Smash Bros. Brawl ... you're surprised?

"I don't like fighting games and this one didn't change my mind"; that's basically all this was.
