Noah's Ark is first game in SouthPeak edutainment line

Oct 28th 2010 4:58AM (Joystiq)
To all the people who say that this game is wrong for children because the story is just scientifically impossible, how is this game any different from teaching a kid by reading fiction like Dr. Seuss or Mother Goose? I don't think any of you guys would call BS on the Cat in the Hat or Puss in Boots. So that doesn't work.

You may also say that the game is indoctrinating kids while their minds are still feeble, but the fact is that kids don't pick up on these things. At least when I learned this story as a kid I thought "Hey Giant Flood, Big Boat with Animals, and a Dove! :D" not "This is why I must succumb to the will of God or become purged off of the face of this Earth like the heathens during Noah's time". Unless the game starts playing a "Follow God or this will be your fate" message on repeat, then I don't see the harm in this game.

But basically, all it comes down to of course are the parents who buy these things. And I can assure you that a parent who sees the value in this game for his or her kid probably (although I won't say always) holds Judeo-Christian stories in high enough regard that they were gonna expose the kid to them anyways. So none of this "propagation of religion" or "science vs. religion" stuff, it is up to the parent in the end.

...... On a less serious note though, I find it hilarious that the history of NES is repeating itself in Nintendo XD All we need is a few more half-done Bible games and terribly done porn games and the NES-DS connection will be complete :)

MGS 3: Snake Eater for me. I really enjoyed the bosses and the settings in that game. MGS is a close second. MGS 2 would have been higher up there if there were more bosses and if it didn't jump the shark at the end.
