New Resident Evil 5 trailer totally simple to follow

Feb 20th 2009 5:38PM (Joystiq)
Yup, still concerned about the controls, still not buying the game until I pull up Joystiq and read this headline:

"CAPCOM RELENTS, RE5 CONTROLS UPDATED FOR 2009 GAMERS"

Resident Evil 5 producer wants more Evil on Wii

Yeah, RE4 must be played to be believed. It is a giant leap forward for the series—and this is coming from someone who's been a fan since the original PSX game.

RE5, by comparison, is just not that fun. Most of that has to do with a poorly-mapped control scheme and wonky thumbstick aiming. Maybe if I had IR aiming, the "stuck-in-place-while-you-aim" thing wouldn't be such a big deal...

Resident Evil 5 producer wants more Evil on Wii

I won't buy RE5. As gorgeous as the game is, the controls were garbage, garbage, garbage. A game should not make me want to chuck my controller at my expensive HDTV. There's a recession on, I can't afford another one!

I'd rather the gorgeousness had been scaled back and the game published on Wii with RE4 controls. Or at least let me move and shoot.

I have to wonder: is this control scheme, like, a Japanese thing? Or do Japanese gamers hate it as much Westerners seem to?

The New Xbox Experience: What do you think?

Nov 19th 2008 9:48PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Much needed and much appreciated. It runs faster, smoother, it's friendlier, Netflix works for me, and the SFII HD release date was up there.

Nice work, Dashboard Team.

Discuss: Will 'Sex and the City' Quietly Become Summer's Biggest Hit?

May 5th 2008 11:44PM (Cinematical)
A hit, but summer's biggest? Absolutely not. Look at the audiences for the biggest hits of (any) summer past -- families (definitely not) and men age 18-34. SATC draws neither.

Cinematical Ticket Giveaway: 'Walk Hard' Screening and Live NYC Performance from Dewey Cox!

Dec 14th 2007 3:27PM (Cinematical)
If I don't take my girlfriend to see Dewey Cox live, she'll KILL me! And if I don't see Dewey Cox myself, I'll just die!

My life is in your hands!

Fanswag: Win the ultimate Halo 3 setup

X3F rocks so hard that if this blog were taken from me I'd wind up on the streets selling my body for Halo 3 scoops.

No brainer -- Master Chief. I'd go toe to toe with an Elite anyday if it means escaping MJOLNIR-reinforced knuckle sandwich.

Addicted to the demo, will probably lose my job after acquiring the game and I couldn't be happier.

Wii Warm Up: What do you hate about the Wii?

Aug 14th 2007 11:54AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
If and when I repeat anyone's previous comments, just consider that my vote in referendum on those complaints:

1) I hate having to buy separate component cables just to get frickin' 480p.

2) I hate that not only does Wii Shop Channel fail to save my credit card #, it outright refuses to accept ANY of my credit card #s to purchase points! Even Microsoft got this right, I make purchases on the 360 all the time. But if I want Wii Points, I have to schlep it to GameStop for a card.

3) I hate my f'ed up 2nd Wiimote that a) refuses to synch with the Wii as Player 1 and b) sometimes refuses to synch with the Wii at all.

4) I hate friend codes and the multiplayer setup in general, especially compared to Xbox Live.

5) I hate that my Wiimote can turn the Wii off, but not on. What's up with that?

That's about it. I have a few dislikes and strong dislikes, but only for 5 hates.
