Unboxing the Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition

Aug 25th 2009 3:16PM (Joystiq)
I pre-ordered that action on Amazon and only paid $90. Sure the Batarang is plastic and glued to the stand, making it hard to throw. But it still has pointy edges which can be used in a stabbing motion.

Step up now, you Collector's Edition nay sayers!

Besides, I've spent more money on worse products. Talk to me about the Halo 3 cat helmet.

PS, the Arkham book with inmate descriptions is actually kind of cool if you're a Batman fan.

Aliens vs. Predator 'Marines' trailer highlights the plight of puny humans

Aliens don't spit acid, they bleed acid. They do drool a lot, like a baby with a toothache.

Game looks awesome!

Myst novel optioned for film

Jul 29th 2009 11:47AM (Joystiq)
I personally love these games. I'm actually playing through Myst IV right now.

Mostly my appreciation is due to the puzzles, but I am also a big fan of the art design. It's kind of nice to sit back on the couch and think about solving the puzzles and riddles throughout the worlds and not worry about something tearing across the screen trying to kill you.

I've never read the books, so maybe I'll pick up the Myst Reader (all 3 books in 1) and give it a shot.

Dyack: Industry making more games than consumers can handle

While I agree with his comment, I don't see how this is any different than other forms of mass media, including books, movies, and music. I still have huge backlogs in all of those areas that will take years to get through.

PSA: LucasArts' Steam-distributed games don't work on ScummVM (but they could!)

Jul 8th 2009 6:40PM (Joystiq)
This is why these games should have been released throuh GOG.com. At least through GOG they would have most likely used DOSBox and/or SCUMMVM to run the games with the original files.

Speaking of which? What emulators are they using? I know The DIG (and Full Throttle) will run in Windows Compatibility mode, because I still have my original CDs, but other games need DOSBox and/SCUMMVM to run properly.

Oblivion, Bioshock bundle doesn't feature Game of the Year edition

Seems odd that they wouldn't include the GOTY edition when the have "Winner of over 80 Game of the Year awards!" stamped right on the box.

EA VP: 'Small team' working on more Mirror's Edge

Jun 12th 2009 4:36PM (Joystiq)
Actually just finished ME for the first time today. Once thing that I think would be great for a sequel would be to have an open city environment, rather than linear corridors. Think inFamous' or Crackdown's cityscape, but in first person.

Then you could just receive objectives or destinations on a map and it would be up to the player to figure out the fastest way there.

They also need to refine the hand to hand combat.
